Team,
After reading and seeing all of the notices about crashes (but never having experienced one myself) I did a little investigation.
There are 5 machines here. Very similar configurations but varying in temperatures.
From my testing it becomes apparent that after about 10 minutes of gameplay the machines get pretty hot.
In fact, 30 degrees Celsius hotter, which is quite a lot.
Now, the reason different people have different crash experiences is due to the hardware they have and how it reacts.
For instance, a P!!! would slow down (as seen on Tom's Hardware), an Athlon will freeze and a P4 will do a "desktop refresh" :-)
Obviously the graphics card contributes quite a large amount of heat to this process, especialy if O/C.
In summary:
Heat.
