Here's something that'll help DRAMATICLY, I learned this from one of my older bro's a year ago when doing some benchmarks:
Right click the desktop - click properties
Click the "settings" tab - click the "advanced" button
Click on the "GeForce XXXXXXX" tab at the top
Open up the "Direct 3D Settings" menu in the left window that just opened
click on the "More Direct3D" submenu that is now open
In the "Vertical Sync Mode" drop-down menu, choose "Always Off"
Now go to the "OpenGL Settings" menu in the left window
And in the "Vertical Sync" drop-down menu, choose "Always Off"
I had reinstalled my system not too long ago and I haven't done much gaming since, so I forgot to reset my settings. I got PainKiller yesterday (the 8th) and noticed it was HORRIBLY slow, at medium settings (which is what i had run the demo at, before I reinstalled the system), and would still slow down while having everything off, lowest resolution, and lowest settings for everything. So I checked my GeForce card settings and I had teh V-Sync on. Now I play with 1024x768 with medium everything and everything on. Here are my system specs:
AMD XP2600+ 333
512MB PC3500 DDR RAM
PNY GeForce FX5200 128MB
Any questions, feel free to ask :)
