When I first got the game, I had installed it, but it wouldn't let me play it, since it couldn't find the CD, it kept giving me an error. I "knew" I was doing everything right, cause the manua CLEARLY states:
To run PainKiller:
* Make sure Disc 1 of PainKiller is in your CD- or DVD-ROM drive.
It's the first thing stated in the "GETTING STARTED" section. I coudln't understand why it wouldn't work, so I gave up and decided to actualy get help from the game's website for a change (normally I can get it working), since this had just come out. I installed Flash and went to the FAQ. BAM! There it is, telling me my error, and saying that Disc THREE must be in the drive instead.
Next, I had the game running, or, walking. I noticed it was really slow, even on my 2.1GHz CPU with 512MB PC3500 DDR and a GeForce FX5200 (not the greatest, I know :)). The demo had never been this bad, and I had everything either turned off or all thte way down. Then I checked my video card settings and noticed the Vertical Sync was set to "Always On", for both my Direct3D and my OpenGL applications. So I set those to Always Off, and I can now run it at mid settings (haven't tried it any higher.....yet ;)). The reason it was running fine in the demo, is because I had reinstalled my OS after playing the demo and never reset my video drivers.
Next I had gotten to the big long fingered boss and I had gotten into the level, but there was no boss! I could hear him walking, grunting, and breathing, but I just coudln't see him! That's how I found you guys :). I looked around at the forums and found out that another member was having the same problem, a problem the game was having with loading a texture at this boss. He said he was going to try installing the most recent GeForce drivers for his card to see if it worked, so I did the same, but to no avail. Lucky for me, I had saved my game RIGHT BEFORE walking down the stairs to the exit of the level before the boss. So I just loaded that game up, finished the level again, and there ya go! The boss was there, even after saving my game there again and reloading it a few times.
I'll keep this thread updated if I run into anymore problems, and I'll also include the solution :D.
