Solved my pk freezing problems here
My freezes seemed to be purely graphics card heat related.
I had freezes just randomly for 10-20 secs before in pk. Every other game worked perfectly which includes farcry-swg-bf1942 dc etc. Also had 3dmark2001 looping to see if i could get freezes errors there but nada(i get almost 13k 3dmarks with my 2.9 P4 cpu(2.53 oced) and geforce4-4400 oced running above 4600 speeds :|
I remembered the painkiller demo ran perfectly on my system before. The only thing i changed between demo and when i got full game was the cooling on my geforce4-4400.(the default stock cooling fan started making annoying noises so i slapped on a 80cm case fan instead)(using 45.23 whql drivers btw from www.guru3d.com)
I put on some rubber bands(lol i know how ghetto gimp but i prolly gonna upgrade to nv40 anyway just a quick solution) to increase the pressure from the fan on the heatsink and onto the vpu of the graphics cars and voila zero freezes so far.
Hope this helps some people i didnt thought it was heat at first instance too because every other game worked perfectly i guess painkiller really is the new heavy graphics cards benchmark heh :)
