My assumptions:

1. You want to fix the problem.
2. Macrovision wwants to fix the problem.
3 You dont honestly know what the DVD/CD issues are.
4 You are able to get a debug version of the SafeDisc API.
5 Macrovision and or you arent covering up a bigger problem. Sorry but if you were in our shoes you might think the same.

Ideas to try:

1. Try it on one of the problem DVD/CD drives. Mine is a Memorex 16x.

2. If it doesnt work, you are there. The goal is that a reproducable problem is fixable.

3. If it does work, send the debug SafeDisc API to one of us who has the problem. I know what you are thinking but I doubt we could learn anything from it in how to crack it. If we could, I suspect Macrovision would be out of business by now. If you are paranoid, you can mask out debug code for the dirty word search.

I know that is might be that in order to fix the problem, you may have to "relax" SafeDisc thus making it easier to share the game but the truth is that many people will use the excuse that the game wont run on their hardware to justify using a warez version or crack.

I still think you should post an offical NO_CD patch. You see most of the people who would warez the game will do so whether it worked out of the box or not so I dont think this would hurt sales if you removed the copy protection. Also since most of the people will use the multiplayer option, those who warez still need a CD key. Ys I know they can get that 2 but its more likely a warez key will get used 2 or more times and thus get banned.

Most of us here are willing to work with you and help but you have to meet us half way.
