Go to my page: http://www.kalme.de/booh
There's a detailed description of how to do these jumps (at the bottom).

If you want a noclip-command, you have to download Powermad: http://www.kalme.de/powermad and use its console command "pmnoclip" (use right mouse button to steer).

I actually don't get why so many people were stuck at that fire pit, with a little circle jumping like a mad chicken, it's quite easy.

Frag Maniac
04-07-2005, 09:14 PM
...difficult than they really are, the first time through. For me it was that nasty Alastor in Shadowland, but now I find it easy enough to write tutorials on it.

I have to admit though, once I got to Trauma and played Colloseum, that obstacle course seemed awfully long and annoying, with no quicksaves.

No one part of it is too terribly bad, except for making it thru the flames coming out of the walls, and the spinning blades at the end with no damage, but you add them all up, with no quicksave option, and it can take a toll on your nerves.

Everybody has spots in the game that seem much more difficult than they really are, the first time through.
For me that was getting through Orphanage without getting hurt. That was horrible! Until I discovered the sheer power of the shotgun ;)

Frag Maniac
04-07-2005, 09:40 PM
...fireballs! It took me a few times to get the right procedure of running to that shotgun, weird how she just dies after you get it though, and the nun at the end practically ignores you.

I like to just freeze/shotgun the first kid that comes up the stairs in the library, then stand at the top of them letting the rest run into the PK laser as they try to get to me.

I was missing the armor and the extra ammo the first couple times thru, and it was difficult without the extra freeze ammo. Then I realized a few things about the pickups that are outside the house. You can actually run right past the first kids coming down the stairs, and go straight up to the freeze ammo secret, then wait a bit before going back down, and they just dissapear. Also, the armor doesn't really help at all if you're going for the card, and the trip to it can get you hurt a couple of points with that last jump to the island it's on, by not jumping all the way onto the island.

Well frag you and thepact always suggest cheating over actualy doing it, which is kind of just a waste of even posting, no offense.

I never like to cheat, I want to play clean, and play fair.

Getting past the fire pit is easy, it just takes a bit of jumping, and a retry, it took me one retry because I was looking up when I accidenly walked over the pits Lol.

Just look at the edges, some edges are sticking out, try and jump from there, and jump to the closest edge, and it should be a piece of cake.

I can't find a single line in this thread where someone suggested cheating. And I don't think Frag or ThePact recommend cheating at all. In fact, if you read through the recent threads (lots of them unfortunately lost now), with discussions about how to get the most gold out of a level and the five stars challenge etc., I think it's clear that no one here recommends to use cheats "out of laziness" (like you said in your other thread)! Far from it! People are writing guides how to beat bosses and reach secrets, very detailed with screenshots etc...

Just because it's easy for you doesn't mean it's easy for everybody else. Remember that for example framerate affects your jumping. There are a lot of people out there playing Painkiller with older video cards, and these jumps can be tricky if you're running at 20-30 fps. Also, I got to know some people through this forum that didn't play (much) shooters before Painkiller. These people are just not familiar with terms like bunnyhopping, circlejumping or strafejumping. Others play through the whole game and hardly ever jump. They are not interested in getting those tricky secrets maybe, and then they barely need to jump. And in Colloseum, suddenly, (good) jumps are required to get past a certain point in the level, something those people didn't face before. I understand how getting past the fire pits can be hard.

Using powermad in my opinion is a cheat, I can never use something that isn't official, and how they describe it is saying "Fly over the pits" chich again in my opinion is cheating out of the challenge that PCF created.

Your second comment about framerate... Before I got a new video card, I ran Painkiller at near high settings, and my frame rate barely ever got old, my video card was at least 3 years old, but when i got one thats newer, things changed, for just about only painkiller, I have to run on low to medium settings on 640-480, or 800-600... I don't get it ?

...a voice from the darkness.....

I'm always very serious about the dilemma of cheat or not to cheat. I never cheat, that's just not me. I'm not lazy, I'm not lame, and "I can take care of myself" (Daniel said once), LOL. But I installed PowerMad even so. But I'm still not a cheater and I still don't cheat. Why and how? Because I simply don't press any of the cheat-keys and I don't activate the cheats, during a completion. I installed PowerMad, because of it's fixes. Yeah, I agree with You PainKilla: I also don't like unoffical things. :) I don't like mods either, and I don't like to modify the official material... However there's at least one problem: You really can't complete the "5-Star Challenge" in BOOH, without at least one unofficial fix (what puts back a Holy Item to it's rightful place)... :( Yes, PCF should fix these nasty bugs, I know..but when will they release a really powerful patch?! I don't trust Them. Actually there's not too much differences between v1.00 and v1.64, if we don't check the graphics..things are almost the same, and the good old bugs are still there ("Ruins"-ammos, "Abandoned Factory"-objects, "stake bug", objects fall through the ground, "Stone Pit", etc.), and I have no idea about when they will get fixed. None of the really serious bugs has been fixed yet, officially, even if PK is 1 year old. But at least PowerMad includes these fixes too, even if they are unofficial. And that's not a problem, really. Maybe once in the future PCF will fix the above mentioned bugs officially, and then I will uninstall PM and start a new and totally clear game. Life is long, and this is just a very minor problem... :) So, I just wanted to say that having PM installed is not a cheat, but using it's cheat-functions is cheating, since hey, it's a cheatscript, or what...? But You can always start a clean completion, without using its cheats-part... :) Maybe if someone cheats now, he will don't cheat later. That remembers me to the reward of the "5-Star Challenge": after I achived it, I completed the game at least 8 times with using cards through the whole completion, any time, I wanted (and I enjoyed it, and learned a lot). :D But later I realized that I'm much stronger, and I don't need them as many times as earlier..so I started to use them less times, and finally, I removed them completely from the Black Tarot Desk, or I simply didn't activate them. Recently I'm trying to avoid them completely, and partly that's about the challenge below, what I'm planning... :)

BTW, feel Yourself to be invited to my challenge: Trauma with no cards, no cheats, and with 5-starring all levels in a row... ;) I think, I'm going to start it soon...

...I'm calling you out on this one.

"Well frag you and thepact always suggest cheating over actualy doing it",...

Where did ANYONE here suggest cheating to get over the fire pit?

..."which is kind of just a waste of even posting,"...

The wasted space was all YOURS, no one elses, and now you've created a cause for even MORE of it, when this started out as just another thread!

..."no offense".

HA, if you don't see the offense implied in those words, you need to get a reality check!

"I never like to cheat",...

Never LIKE to? Boy if that just doesn't sound like someone that's in denial of the times you actually HAVE, whether you LIKED it or not! HA! LMAO!

"I want to play clean, and play fair".

WANT to? Here we go again, that doesn't exactly sound as if you HAVEN'T cheated before yourself!

"Getting past the fire pit is easy, it just takes a bit of jumping",...

If you'd actually READ the replies I gave on this subject, I said it was alot like the tower jump in Castle, requiring momentum by hopping in a circle to get up speed. Would you like it if I called you a wuss because you had to "retry", what about Trauma, where "retrying" is cheating?

..."and a retry, it took me one retry because I was looking up when I accidenly walked over the pits Lol".

You make noob mistakes like that, and you're bragging about not cheating, and implying that Pact and I always suggest and take the easy way out, not to mention calling it an EASY jump, which it is, but apparently not as much for you as you make it sound? LOL indeed, what a joke, sounds like you're one of those guys that had to play the game dozens of times before YOU could play it without cheats!

"Just look at the edges, some edges are sticking out, try and jump from there, and jump to the closest edge, and it should be a piece of cake".

Here again, if you'd read ANY of my past posts, you'd know I said exactly this same thing, though it's not necessary, and I use that advice only for those having trouble with it, like YOU maybe, if you actually need to use those edges every time? LMAO AGAIN!

This kind of crap you guys spew all got started over the 5 star. ALL along in my talking about it, I've given you guys credit for wanting to complete it without cheats. Just because some of us have chosen to not risk the many frustrations of game glitches, crashes, and other unforeseen problems, doesn't mean we don't have the skill to do it, but I certainly do NOT view you as anyone to prove ANYTHING to, I think you're a F#CKING PUNK LIAR. You show no respect at all, after staying away from these boards for a while, you come back here and act like your SH!T doesn't stink, well it DOES, you just have your head so far up your arse, you don't recognize how bad it smells anymore!

Someone tell me WHY it makes sense to not only put in a LOT of time struggling with the 5 star, but bragging about achieving it when the reward gets you the "SISSY" effect, virtually being able to play the game with NO CHALLENGE AT ALL! This is the kind of thing people with WAY too much time on their hands do IMO especially if they come here and act like they're some kind on GOD in doing so. Why don't you save your bragging for a REAL challenge, like making some money at the MP game, instead of your glorified Easter egg hunt? It's one thing if you're just boasting a bit, while respecting your fellow players/forum members, but you're clearly trying to make yourself sound superior here, and I don't think ANYONE is buying it.

I've said many times I was only curious as to what the reward was, as I'd already beat both games on Trauma, including the last chapter of PK, but I guess you'd call THAT cheating too!

If I'd seen anything worth going thru all that trouble in the reward, I'd probably have played that challenge with only the fixes, and compared notes with others, as I have a tendency to keep at something worthwhile until I perfect a system.

If you see that challenge as worthwhile, so be it, but don't come here and tell everybody your superior for simply having completed it, just because some of us thought it was a waste of time.

Enjoy your reward though Painkilla, I'm sure the free and unlimited use of cards is more your style anyway.

Frag Maniac
04-09-2005, 09:16 PM
...you aren't coming right out and throwing personal insults like Painkilla, but in agreeing with him you appear to be just whimpishly avoiding admitting to it.

"I'm always very serious about the dilemma of cheat or not to cheat. I never cheat, that's just not me. I'm not lazy, I'm not lame",

How contradictory, if "it's just not you", why is there some mysterious "dilemma of cheat or not to cheat?"

Here is the appropriate definition of dilemma, taken from the context of your usage of it: 3 a : a problem involving a difficult choice

If it's a difficult choice for you, why are you acting like, "that's just not me", apparently you have a hard time deciding what exactly is you, by your own words.

"That remembers me to the reward of the "5-Star Challenge": after I achived it, I completed the game at least 8 times with using cards through the whole completion, any time, I wanted (and I enjoyed it, and learned a lot)."

Using the cards like this from the reward of free and unrestricted use is as much cheating as the things you guys have accused others of, and here I thought you were doing it "just for the challenge", thanks for pointing that out to everyone.

"But later I realized that I'm much stronger, and I don't need them as many times as earlier..

Much stronger, after just admitting you NEED them, after making it sound like you don't use cheats. You may see using cards free and unrestricted as not cheating, but if you can't see that it's effectively the same, you're in need of help OTHER than the reward.

"Recently I'm trying to avoid them completely",

AH Ha, just as I thought, not the UBER gamer after all. LMAO!

If you guys are going to come out here starting a flame war and talk smack like you can play this game better than the rest of us, you better choose your words a little more carefully, you're making complete arses of yourselves!

Now it pisses me off to hear some child getting all worked up and using words like "LMAO" in his posts.

For one, You suggest Powermad in about every f*cking thread I've read, suggest something else dickey and mickey.

And excuse me, you just wasted space in this thread by coming up with your lame-*ss flame comments, can I suggest you go back to half-life forums?

I didn't want to offend you, so that's why I said "No offense", stupidass.

I've cheated before, in quake 1, gta3, gta vice city, deus ex, plenty of games, but never once did I cheat to get through painkiller, I didn't deny anything you f*cking stupid sh*t, so "HA! LMAO!" right back up your f*cking *ss.

I want to play clean and fair, what the f*ck is wrong with saying that? I WANT to, and I DO! Learn to come up with some better comebacks.

I read your replies, and most of them made sh*t for sense. I don't even want to comment the rest of the things you said in that paragraph, because it's just sheer random talking.

Oh and excuse me for wanting to look at detail, that's why I was looking around, I looked around too much and waited for an enemy to spawn but fell down the pit, noobass mistake? No, just a mistake. So please, shut your f*cking mouth.

And to all your little rambling further down, do you even think before you type in words? This is not only embarrassing for me, but it makes you look like a d*mn child, you come out blurting 50 phrases over one word.

Explain to me "f*cking punk liar", and what the f*ck are you talking about my sh*t for? Do you stalk me in the bathroom and get down there and smell it when I turn to get toilet paper? Dumbass.

I don't even try to brag, and sorry if I do, but PLEASE right another f*cking paragraph about it for fucks sake.

Now that my rant is over, I want you to realise this is a forum, and I've listened to enough sh*t on 5 other forums, and when I read through 5-10 other threads where one of you, either frog or the pact is posting up Kalme's site, I get annoyed by this. Why? Because you repeat it over and over, and excuse me for not wanting to read jibberish.

I don't like the fact that you went in the way of starting this little flame post about me, I really get sick of people like you, and I don't care what your opinion is about me. As of now, you're simply on the "Whiney Flamer" chart, so please don't even respond to this, just shut your mouth, go ahead and leave the forums, and don't start up flaming comments about someone. It's not wanted here, and nobody wants to here how shitty your flaming is, got it?

Good.

What exactly did you think I meant by "past posts", did you think this was the only thread on this subject? Obviously you're a bit "out of the loop" because you don't read the threads daily, or read only the ones that interest you.

The forum has just been wiped out, lots of people probably recall the posts I'm talking about. King Alastor and the fire pits have been a popular subject lately.

Another example of your disrespectfull ways of reading, or at least claiming what you've read, is in saying Pact and I ALWAYS suggest cheats. When someone asks for advice on how to complete 5 star for example, we give them ALL the options, we do NOT tell them they should cheat. This was not enough though, you took it further and implied that we probably can't complete the game without them! You really have let that little bunny hunt go to your head you know.

It's bad enough that you misread what WE post, but you can't even seem to accurately remember what you yourself have posted.

When it gets to the point of you flaming us over it, that's when I draw the line, and you're D#MNED lucky it was mostly just me that spoke up.

Well, I don't know the answer. What I know is that I won't start a thread about it, I'll just do it on my own (as anyone else can do the same). Such things worked fine at TRC, but they don't work here, and I shouldn't have been talking too much about that (that just heated things up). Everyone does these challenges for himself, as Varus said once, but I agree with Frag (even if I forgot this for a short while) too: sharing experiences and helping others what really count. Therefore, I won't speak about it anymore, and I'll only mention things about it, if that helps someone in any way, who stucked or need help... I'll keep this in mind... :)
