Check out the HUD in this pic, I can't figure why it looks so different. Could this be one of the prototype versions before the final release?

I don't even recognize the weapon.

good call frag !

i remember seeing alot of shots and even vidoes form PK with that visual style.
i think it was the first 4 videos www.IGN.com (http://www.ign.com/) had, beofre the game was released, but i thought the same, thats probably how it looked before distribution. i noticed then, that theres no indicator at the top either, so it could be something for when "they didnt know what to put there" ! but looks very good tho, doesnt it?
i'd be surprised to know thats the European release, lol

It looks like the opening scene of Cathedral, but the Devil Monks don't appear there, just the Evil Monks, so that's different too I think.

Thanks for the nice words on the avatar, I searched alot for a nice bullfrog avatar online, but most were cute little treefrogs, which weren't appropriate.

The ones I found were too high in file size too, and the few bullfrogs ones I saw didn't look good. Then I typed in frog cartoons on a search, and found one I could crop and do some Paint work with.

I've got 2 versions of this, the other one I'm using on the PPK site, after only cropping and changing the background.

the weapon was the original sub-machine gun with a grenade launcher as the alt fire. It was replaced by the stake gun. which is more fun to use.

I kind of welcomed the idea of an SMG, when I first heard that BOoH had one, but I don't like the way they made it fire so erratically, in an unrythmic and unpredictable rate of fire. I'd almost rather they just put it on a predictable burst mode. The sound it makes kind of sucks too.

i personally like the SMG guy that comes from BOOH very much !
and the reaosn for that is how its designed to look, and its so sad to hear u r not as interested ! i also like its accuracy and range (range could have been ultimate as stake gun, but oh well...).
the sound it makes during fire, sounds real and cool in my opinion,

over all,
i very much liked both SMG and Bolt gun, and mostly due to their neat straight pure metallic design. ;) i thought it was something different compared to any other weaponeries i'd seen in other games.

Several years ago I noticed this same thing but with, obviously, another game. That being Unreal. I actually thought I had bought a wrong version of the game :D

There were a number of these pre-prod screens put up here last summer - Daniel[DC] was digging them out of the corners. If the 'search' function worked, we'd be able to still get to them (he basically linked to the whole directory of unused stuff).

thats something i would love to c in the game, c how ancient and old it looks, unlike this fancy one we have.

...the flamethrower is great, nice heat haze effect too, and the fire power/range of the SMG is fine. I can even live with the sound, it's mostly the galloping way it fires, in an unrythmic and erratic fashion.

I love weapon talk, and am a gadget freak. I don't think they've yet made proper use of the zoom function by assigning it to the boltgun. I would like to see something more appropriate for long range, yet versatile, how many weapons do you see that fire 3 long bolt length projectiles in succession, as a sniper weapon? It would have made more sense to make it a combo crossbow/heater, with motor assisted pulleys or something to really give the bolts super high velocity, and fire one at a time.

How about a weapon that fires micro plasma encased charges, carrying a genetic agent that rapidly disrupts cells after lodging into a body? This might be more appropriate for use with a sniper zoom. It's alt fire would be a series of about 5 darts, that fire in a spread pattern, for close range. The darts could be either toxic, heat, or acid based, but only effective short range.

I'm also mulling over an idea for a jet pack/body armor suit, that would fire heat seeking napalm mini bombs, and a sonic disrupter for alt fire. The disrupter would have a stun effect, enabling you to hover in closer and devastate groups of monsters with the mini bombs.

This pack would be stationed at certain places much like the wolfhead mask, in areas with flying gargoyle or other type creatures, as well as ground troops with sniper weapons. The suit would include a helmet/face shield isolating you from the effects of the sonic disrupter, and enabling various types of enhanced vision, night, thermal, zoom, etc. It would also be fireproof, for close ground sweeps after dusting enemies with the napalm.

The heat haze, acid, thermal or toxic disruption effects would be awesome I think, besides the potential for wrtiting great maps with oppostion to match.

... Thievery Corporation, it's titled The Cosmic Game.

It's got some ambient sections, and much of it has a sort of emphasized smooth jazz or fusion type bass. The voclas have ranged from Dave Mathews sounding to slight reggae bop stuff. The track I'm listening to right now is more instrumental and has a combination of East Indian sounds, and an almost rock/latin fast paced beat to it.

So far it's been very diverse and interseting, you might want to check it out.

Much of it has a slight reggae core to it, but very subtle and nice, with some ambient keyboard work in it.

The experience itself is quite an adrenaline rush,...but yes, I do tend to rattle on about my gadget ideas don't I.

Ever since we lost Desmond Llewelyn, I feel I've been touched by his spirit. I was so sad to see him go.:(

Check out the faces on the windows, and the fact that Daniel is on the upper concourse where you can't go untill this boss is killed.

...but I think ALL the shots we've seen here are of different map layouts, not just different textures used in them. They may have originally intended, for instance, that you could access the upper area BEFORE the Giant Vamp was killed, if you so desired, or even had the venturing up there as the triggering of his prescence, for all we know.

At any rate, I like the way they made the final product in every respect I think.

Lol you two are becoming more common folks around the forums.
Like he said, it was supposed to be a submachine gun, and as far as I know, it also had a shotgun-like alt fire, can't recall too much of it being a grenade launcher.

I do want the HUD, but oh well.


Btw, the shotgun you saw was actualy turned around, resulting in the shotgun we have now. It had bad firing animation, it only moved like an inch when shot.

Yeah, an older version or something. The fact the box looked totally different didn't comfort me either.

Don't ask me exactly how that could even happen, but give me some slack, that was back in 1998 :)

Once, I got hit BIG time by the Giant Vamp, and ended up being tossed up there, which was a GREAT place from which to deliver Thyne Owne Justice on him (...it IS a cathedral...)

I love the sheer size and look of that Cathedral, the stained glass windows, and the way the light filters through them, almost givers the effect of fog, very cool.

Should there be an official screenshot thread made up again like the one guile did, or just use this one?

Are there other weapons from the past of painkiller?
Planetpainkiller has (if not mentioning it's switch off) the FAQT about multiplayer weapons and how much damage do they do.
Is there a FAQT about the weapons in SP? Where? Also where can i find the tutorial about the monsters in painkiller?
The manual installed together with the game is ****.
Where are shown the real names of monsters and how much HP they have?
