View Full Version : My Fan-Made DL Trailer

I made a trailer for Dungeon Lords based on the demo, it uses the same DL theme music as the original trailer. I decided to use the original music because I thought I could use it to show some better atmosphere/melee combat than any other trailer and it worked really well with the climax in the music. Tell me what you think:

To download anything at rapidshare.de scroll to the bottom and click on "free", it will then go to another page and you will have to wait 30 seconds before you can download.

Note: you can only download a maximum of 30 mb per hour at rapidshare so if you have downloaded from there within the last hour you will have to wait.

I may make a proper music video next, any idea's what song I should use? I was thinking possibly the Berserk anime theme music "Forces"...

Not bad, but I think there was too much of the early bit panning around the characters while they're not really doing anything.

Rob Zombie's "Dragula" is pretty good for an action game clip. Saw it used for a fan-made Planetside advertisement.

I already used Dragula for my Diablo 2 PvP music video..

http://www.fileplanet.com/files/150000/151652.shtml - Its a bit on the 'l337' side of things but it brings out the atmosphere in D2 PVP very well. No doubt txa1265 will gouge out his eyes if he watches it..

As for the DL trailer, I was going for a bit of a contrast in the earlier more quiet stages of the music theres just showing scenery and intense action during the climactic parts of the music.

i can't remember what the "forces" track sounds like, but i think i can guess. using anything from Berserk is a good idea, since it is probably the best anime series ever made.

oh yeah, i meant to point out that your combat in there was so much better than the footage that DC used in its own trailers!!! they should have hired you instead of whoever (whatever?) was responsible for their official trailers.

hehe Thanks, its the whole reason I made the trailer... I think I could improve on it a fair bit though, I covered scene/theme and combat fairly well but I didnt show much magic stuff or ninjitsu...

I dont play magic/ninja much though, a bit overpowered for my taste.. glory to the underdog!

I thought the trailer was awesome! It sold the game much better than the official trailer did! (Of course, I've already bought it, but still..)

How come your combat looked so much cooler tham mine? My melee mostly consist of me sliding backwards while a bunch of tiny goblins dance in circles around me. :)

Perhaps have the characters walking cautiously through a couple of different areas? Rather than them essentially just standing around out in the forest. :) I guess it'd be tough to get good footage though, with the random monsters spawning all the time. :)

Yea I had thought of that after making it, maybe leave 1 of forest and get 1 of the swamp and 1 of the dungeon..

Check this out: http://www.gamershell.com/news/21373.html

(I emailed Gamer's **** about it.. Hope you didn't mind :P)

Edit: For those of you who didn't see it yet, Gamer's **** offers very good download possibilities. I usually get 1000kb/s from them, and it's all free and without waiting times.

VERY NICE JOB!! on the demo. I love the syncing of the video to the audio as well as the well thought out transitions from scene to scene.

makes me want to play the demo a third time just to find that hammer (not sure if that's from this demo or the press release?)

Thx, The transitions and timing is where I put the most work..

The hammer is found outside of the demo area, you need to use the "mountain push" bug to get there. You have to travel to a place called Skuldoon where you'll meet Turvan Hammer, if you are an Urgoth or a Wylvan he will offer you the Hammer for 2000 Gold. There are a lot of "missing files" in that area, so if you want to get there you will have to do a lot of renaming.

Go here for more info on the "Beyond the demo" project:

... oh, so that *is* yours - I saw the thing on G*m*r*h*l* (save the filter the trouble ;) )and wondered ... then forgot to ask!

Cool job.

thanks for the info on the hammer, i'll pass on trying to go outside the demo, don't want to spoil anything for myself :) but am glad that my fighter will get to see some neat toys :)

up until chuk said they revamped that starting area to make it easier for the newb chars, i was still hoping that the demo area wasn't the actual game start and that it all started somewhere else completely, to give us a nice surprise when we start the full game.

so anyway, i'll bide my time and wait for the full thing before searchign for more things.

but great demo :) hopefully DC/HP uses it and maybe gives you a free copy for your effort if they do use it ;)

Nvm my previous post. Downloaded codec. All is good.

I agree: HP should license that video from you for PR/Marketing. Great work!

P.S. That hammer is hilarious! Way too big. Poor gobies and skellies never had a chance.
