I'm assuming this one is UT2006, I've known about this for awhile and decided to post about it.

http://beyondunreal.com/daedalus/singlepost.php?id=7983

This, at first look, is amazing. They're using the Unreal Engine 3 for this, obviously, and they're even returning some of the older UT characters.

I'm really liking the sound of the new game-type... Really, this is going to be awesome, but sadly this won't be out for a while, a long while...

- Features eight teams, each with unique armor.
- Conquest maps are "potentially as large as three onslaught maps with assault-like objectives and even a form of limited resource management planned"
- "there may be the option to treat a conquest match like a long term war, so you can play, take a break, and then go back and play more later"
- "you can use your stats to find similarly abled opponents"
- "pre-game lobbies" will be present in some form
- "clan pages and other sites will be able to be viewed from within the game"
- "conquest will take advantage of the Unreal Engine 3's ability to seamlessly stream maps by putting you in a battlefield the size of several maps stitched together"
- "players will battle on one of two teams, each sides terriroty will look physically different, as you take a territory it will convert to the otherteams structures and physical surroundings"
- "conquest should appeal to a wider gaming audience and provide a place where longer-term strategy, teamwork, and face-to-face fragging all meet"

Can't wait **** it!

Double post, as soon as I get more of the information on it, I'll post it up.

Oh don't put negativity into it, it's going to be good. Not a UT fan?

I was back when UT and UT2k3 came out. Then UT2k4 and now this..
It's getting old.

Itīs not getting old at all.
If you donīt like UT, you are welcome to not buy the game when it comes out. ;)

UT2004 never gets old, indeed. This is just making it better, giving us more to do instead of playing onslaught over and over... Dria is by far the best map for me, but theres other community made maps that are truely nice.

Still can't wait.

UT2006 (or whatever it's currently dubbed) is on my list of "must have"'s.

It will most likely to be released in at least 2007 I think.
I mean, look at the graphics, do you think a 2006 computer can run that well?
If youīre rich, you could afford enough specs to run it well.

Iīm going to guess 2008.
;)

A few people from my forums announced it is 2006, I'm unsure.

The graphics do indeed look nice, and that photo of Malcolm (the soldier-type person) most likely is going to be what we see in the game, lower the poly though a little, especialy on the cannon.

Very nice, and I'm really hoping they'll add a lot to this.

Yea, don't forget that all the videos of the rendering engine are 'tech' videos, not actual gameplay videos. Not to say the graphics won't be jaw dropping, but I'm sure you won't see all that eye candy in the game, especially if they expect to keep a 32 player limit with vehicles, and large maps etc.

And as far as I know, they are shooting for a 2006 release. The earliest UE3 games are scheduled to hit late this year. And I also remember reading somewhere that they said the UE3 engine will be compatible with current hardware (forget the exact line of cards they said will be the absolute low end).

Hmm..
Mabye with the pretty graphics I'll get it. I was let down by UT2k4 because it felt like the same game as UT2k3 with just more stuff to do..

UT2004 was anything but a put down, it was just plain cool. Onslaught took all the boring CTF/DM gameplay, and put them together and made a sweetass gametype. Of course, you're not catching flags, you're fighting to destroy the other base, of course that's just one of the fun parts.

There's a map I played where theres one fortress, a huge area and a big tower in the middle, and another fortress on the other end, and when playing with a large amount of people, it was so much fun, I swear to god I played it for hours straight, driving the artillery (if you have the special edition or downloaded the bonuses) out of one fortress while 30 other people are all blasting eachother is just so cool, and I probably lost all skill with UT after playing cs, who knows, but I'm really planning on going back sometime soon.

What really is getting my hopes up is the new gametype for UT2006, just think of it, a huge map with a huge battle and all the things you can do... I just can't think of anything better, not right now anyway Lol.

Can't wait another year!

yea, ONS is quite fun with alot of people (I usually try to hop on Cain's lair ONS or CTF servers when I can). I don't get to play that often, so I usually look for 20+ players on an ONS server so that I'm not busy looking for action. Great time passer for sure. That new gametype does sound even better too (what's it called again? Thought I read something about "Envy")

Screw UT, I want Unreal III. Yeah I know Unreal 2 was like Highlander 2: The Quickening. Hopefully U3 will deny any knowledge of The Awakening like how Highlander 3 did!

I bought Unreal 2..
It was kinda cheesey, the blood could have been better..

The graphics were fantastic but the gameplay was just..

Bjossi

...not Unreal.
I love finishing sentences. :D

Lol I loved Unreal 2, and the part I loved about the game is the interacting with players, especialy on the (can't remember name) snow mission, past "H*ell" minus the *. The one where you're attacking the one people in suits, I haven't played it in so long so I wouldn't really know.

Anyway, I didn't know about Unreal 3, so Lol, wow I should keep up to date in that. The one thing I really vote that I don't like is Unreal Championship 2, they give them swords JUST because it's a console game and they think it would be nice... I just don't get it.

I think the reason Unreal Chapionship 2 has swords is because aiming, for me at least, is harder to do with a controller rather than a mouse, and using swords is easier to use for a controller

Well that's fascinating...

Though, I'm into the whole unreal series.
Hopefully they will have Mr. Crow or Harlequin in 2007.
