As noted at the game site: (http://www.dungeonlordsgame.com/main.php?s=news)
Change of expected Release date
We would like to announce that the release date of Dungeon Lords has been postponed to mid-May 2005. We apologize for the delay and would inform you of a precise release date shortly.
While I wanted the game to be out on the 20th, I am both pleased and relieved that they managed a delay - I think in the end it will benefit everyone!

I'd love to have been playing it in a week's time but it's pretty obvious that there's still some polishing to do. Good to see that they're getting the chance to do some of that.
Hope Chuk keeps us up with what's happening behind the scenes.

Sad to hear, but I expected this too.
Unfortunetely, me and my pals won't be able to play that game on our LAN-Party next weekend *sigh* :(

Best thing that could've happened, I think. The game is still being released in a month, but they get the extra time to polish and make it the game we want it to be. I'm pleased with this news. :D
I'm also glad they have pushed back the release date. There is nothing worse than a half-assed release of a game that could have been awesome if given a little extra polish.
On a different note, I'd love to know what wrangling has gone on behind the scenes for HP to have gained an extra month's development time...

A good thing that HP was able to push the date back though my two older kids are going to be disappointed, they were looking forward to some three player games.
As you say wolf, would have been interesting to be "a fly on the wall" of that particular series of discussions. Not all that often the devs get to push the publishers dates back, especially this close to release.

Very good news, I was trying to finish up a couple games this week in preparation for april 20th but now I can relax. I will also need to find another game to play in the mean time:)
I believe this extra month wait is going to be well worth it in the end. Great job DL team.

I am also happy to see some additional time being given for code polishing and bug squashing! This will give me time to play through Bloodlines again as a different clan. :)

I had a feeling the release date would be moved. Like you guys say, this gives the developers more time to make a better game. :D

Maybe they'll have taken care of all of our 'handedness', save and revive issues, and we'll end up with a 32-page thread on whether the thread-count on the stitched leather is correct for the time period ... ;)

now looks like the game is gonna be what it should be like im glad they took are suggestions and are fixing the game up rather then just releasing it this month like it was in the demo that would suck cause its a good game.
Well i'll be honest i was getting ready to play Dungeon Lords this month but im happy they delayed it to the middle of may to fix it up some more i wanna see new screenshots with the right handed models for sure and if they added anything else new that they think we should see they should take some pics.
I didnt really play the demo at all much i didnt wanna ruin anything and nevermind a second demo i just want the game they can release a second demo after the game is out if ppl still have doubts.

Why are they awesome? They are delaying the game that should have been released over a year ago. Don't get me wrong I am happy they are delaying the game, but isn't that praising someone for telling you something is going to take longer than it should.
Kind of like a contractor promising you to build you a house in 1 year and then telling you it will take 2 years and saying it will be much better. He should of either told you it was going to take 2 years or he should have told you that the 1 year house plan was for a crappy house and you could have chosen either. If thats not the case then the contractor should be the opposite of awesome because he wasn't able to properly manage the building of your house.
I would go as far to say it is a step in the right direction because they are taking some responsibility for their actions, but I wouldn't call them awesome.

we just got the play the demo and made many suggestions instead of doing all this they could have just released it like they were and it would have been a buggy mess and now there talking an extra half month its gonna be all polished up and right handend models added (i asked alot haha)
so dont know what your crying over im glad they delayed it by half a half and its just half a month big deal.
Cant wait for the game :)

Man i been counting down the days to april the 20th like a kid waiting for christmas. I must say the kid in me was disappointed that the delayed it. But the adult in me is telling me how it will be a better game now that they delayed it. So, i am very pleased to hear this. I just hope they maybe give us a better demo between then. I am so dang antsy to get this game.
Just want to say to the developers or whoever it concerns. Thank you for delaying this game and not doing what most companies do. Most companies are just in it for the money and release the game before it is really done. Which i never understood anyway. I mean, you would think they would want to make more money. If a game is bad people will just post on forums saying how bad it is. Therefore, this will hurt sales. A lot of people buy games based on forums and feedback. Not reviews. I think some of these gaming review sites are paid off. I look for forums to see what people have to say. That is how you look for a good game, which most people do. Hmmm, i think i am rambling. This is a sensitive subject for me. Sorry. I really meant this to be a praise for Heuristic Park and the team. Please forgive me. Thank you for this wonderful looking game that you people are obviously spending the right amount of time on.

I remember when Resident Evil 1 Remake came out i kept counting the days i was the first person in the store and the guy was just taking them out of the box haha :o

To criticize others for their creations is somewhat asinine. However, Vazquez, I can see your point in a twisted sort of way. The fact remains, however, that we did not pay them to get the game done on our deadline. That is the main difference between the developers and a contractor. Also, a contractor sets out to build a house. They have it laid out for them and it is more or less a step-by-step procedure. With games, it's trial and error, with a fair amount of last second fixes and eighty hour work weeks.
In other words, don't be too harsh on them. They truly are "awesome" simply for being capable of creating a game of this magnitude, or any game for that matter. Just having the patience required for this is impressive enough.

Hardly
I'm not concerned with the fact they delayed the game. If you read carefully I said I was glad they delayed it.
I just think it's sad that we lowered our expectations and now that the company is acting like a normal game company we praise them for it. Even though it seems like releasing buggy games is the norm, its not how you run a game company.
Response to them fixing bugs should be, "Good its what your suppossed to do"
Not
"You guys are awesome for doing what you were suppossed to do all along."
Frankly I don't care when they release the game as long as they are honest and release something that they themselves can be proud of. After all they spent the time making it.

The game, was never supposed to be released a year ago, it was nowhere near a completed state but DC (the publisher) announced that it would be released (as well as a demo of the game) last year around sep/oct. The premature half/breed Demo release I also believe is the work of DC. I would'nt be surprised if DC also announced the original 20th of April release date too.
I would ask you to place more trust in CHUK and HP - The Development Team - of DL rather then doubting them due to mistakes made by their publisher. DC seem to be pushing them for release and I imagine that HP are pushing back for delays like this one in order to get the game polished to a respectable state before releasing it.
But hey, this is just my observations ... I could be wrong, but I doubt it, from what I've seen since april last year, CHUK is always putting in his best efforts to manage: developing a game, public relations and his personal life. It's just not always possible to satisfy the 3 to an acceptable level...

The game desperatly needs more polishment. Kudos for taking an extra time.
They will make more money.
I mean... look at Blizzard, they take extra 2-3 years to release a game, but then they do they make nuff money to fund 2-3 other projects.
We dont accept crappy games nowadays, they better pull out something solid, stable, fun and as bug-free as possible.
If they pull this out they could make Dungeon Lords strong as Dungeon Siege as the game can potentially be better.

there still is no offical date next half may might not even be accurate who knows when they will release maybe at the end of may.
I dont mind them taking a few more months to polish it up that would be the smart thing to do but if they delayed it by 5 months or something then yeah thats when we get ;)

What do you mean? Yes it is a creation and if it was just that I would not say a thing. Unfortunately this is not just a creation it a product to be sold. And it needs to make money or some people will be without jobs.
As the customer, regardless of what the product may be, I have the right to criticize it. If this was some home made modification to a game by some person, I would not say anything unless the person asked for my honest feedback. And anytime I have criticized it has been constructive. I never in all my post have ever just said the game sucks. Although I might say it in the future but only because I have already stated the constructive feedback.
While I am sure the people working on the game love what they do, the moment they decided to become a business (in other words start trying to get money for their product) they opened themselves up to criticism.
In the same way when you see someone playing ball at a park you don't yell at them and tell them they suck. But if someone pays hundreds of dollars for a playoff ticket to some sports event they are expecting to be entertained usually by their team doing well. If they don't do well they can voice their disappointment as a way of telling management they are unhappy.

"simply for being capable of creating a game of this magnitude, or any game for that matter. Just having the patience required for this is impressive enough."
Of course true, but irrelevant. The reason being you are judging them based on Your limitations. In other words your saying because You don't have the patience to sit down and create a game, we should be impressed because they can. That is silly. Thats like me saying because I can't play in the NBA anyone who can is impressive (which is actually true unfortunately its not meaningful). Honestly, do we really think that way when you talk about sports figures? No, you say for example Kobe Bryant is awesome compared to other NBA players, or so and so(some crapy player name) sucks (even though he's still in the NBA).
It's not twisted it's honest. If they were making an impressive game I would praise them as much as I could. I do so for many company's large and small. Fom the makers of Minions and Mirth, Oblivion, Mount&Blade, Heart of Darkness Mod, UltimaMorrowind Mod, Wizards Islands Mod, Stalker, TribesRPG, World of WarCraft(although I refuse to pay monthly to play) and many others I'm forgetting. If your putting the work in and it's tangible I will praise you for it.
The fact of the matter is regardless of whether the demo was an old beta, what they have shown is not impressive and what they say is irrelevant until they back it up. Just like I could tell you how awesome of a basketball player I am and how much work I put in everyday playing basketball and how I am better then Allen Iverson. You won't be impressed until I prove it, right (assuming you like basketball)?

Why are stores GoGamer.com still advertizing the release date for this game to be 4/21/05?

Okay, I thought I was going to have it tough waiting until 2006 for Gothic 3 or later this year for the next Elder Scrolls game, so when I got excited about Dungeon Lords I was even more excited about the April release date....Moving it back is a huge bonus for me on two fronts: First, the obvious...more time=better game. The second is personal....
...Now I have AT LEAST a month to play Stronghold 2 before I have to decide whether to play SH2 or DL! I'm so very pleased!

It is kinda odd for it to be the day before assumed release and the shops not change date yet, 4/20 on EB... I keep hearing about OBlivion being "out later this year" but they still have it as 5/2.... and with oblivion I haven't seen any statements officailly saying they were pushing back, though I haven't been looking to hard...
Maybe the stores aren't changing the DL release date yet because they have been told "we're not sure when it'll come out now." In stead of X date...so they're waiting to be told X Date...

Yeah why do all of the online sites and I even called Best Buy and EB Games in my town and they told me it would be out April 26. But the site says it's pushed back to mid-May. So, when will these stores figure it out? Or maybe we'll get lucky...LOL

There was a 'weekly release' list on one of the game sites this past weekend saying it was coming this week ... but we know that isn't happening ... until we get a firm date we just won't know.
I'm sure that every day there are discussions/battles over the release, as it is clear that DreamCatcher wants this out there ...
