Hey, I've been browsing these forums for a long time (since Painkiller was released) but I've got a problem with Painkiller. I'm hoping you guys can help.

It only appears in the first chapter, in certain areas of the levels I get white or red boxes. It usualy happens in areas with fog. It happens in Chapter one levels one, three and four.

I've got the game fully patched, running with BooH. Here's my system specs...

Pentium4 3.0GHZ
1 gig DDR2 500MHZ
128MB ATI Radeon x800
Sound Blaster Audigy 2
Windows XP

I also have a screen of the problem...

God thats gross :)
What video card do you have? You mentioned everything but. I started out trying to play Painkiller with a Geforce 4 mx440 which turned out to be a disaster. I've since gotten a Geforce FX 5200 (pretty much just under the wire for specs) and enjoy 85fps average with medium settings all around.

IŽd guess this is video driver related.

Definitely. This problem or variants of it have shown up with some Radeon cards. First thing to try would be updating to the latest drivers.

Lower your resolution and/or turn texture quality down. When things start dropping out like that, then that points to not enough video memory for textures.

Thanks for the replies, but I fixed it shortly after I posted this.

I reinstalled the latest drivers for my x800, and the problem was gone. Butyeha, it's a Radeon problem... cause my other PC has a GeForceFX 5600 Ultra... and I never saw anything like that until my new PC.

Thanks again.
