I just bought Painkiller Gold and there is no CD key included. Please don't tell me to send images of my CDs to tech support. That is ridiculous.
I'd like to play the game I bought without being hassled, please.

I sent in scans of my first 3 cd's last night and I havent gotten a response since. This is not boding well for DreamCatcher as a company. At least not for whomever is doing the CD packaging.

I'm thinking we may not hear anything until Monday at the earliest... unless I am wrong and they run support at all hours through the weekend.
I don't understand this fixation with the image files though. Seems like someone could just put such images up for download somewhere, so anyone could use them. Therefore, there's no point...?

I bought mine today (Saturday 4/16/05). This is really gay if I might say so myself. I went to Best Buy, and then home, then back to make exchange, then opened it in store and didn't find a cd key in the 5 packages they had there. I sent my **** picture, hopefully they'll get back soon.. IM SO pissed  , they should all give us hand jobs or something... what do you guys think?

These threads seem to relate to the gold edition. Did perhaps DC/PCF forgot to put the CD key? They´re in deep sh*t if that´s the case...

I guess if someone says...
I just bought Painkiller Gold
... you're right.
@CannisRabidus: I think sending in CD scans or a scan of your sales slip or something is the only way...?

Just odd to see suddenly two threads on the same page related to missing CD key. ;)

Just find someone kind enough to give you their CD key. that only works if they haven't registered their game.

He? First of all, you can't "register" your game like you can Windows for example. Second, giving away your CD-key is a stupid thing, because when someone is using your key, you can't play multiplayer online.

Well it depends on the game. i never factored in multiplayer. and i always thought you could register your game to a support site o something so ok i was wrong my bad.

I really wasn't expecting to play online anyway. I just wanted to play the singleplayer game. So any key at all will do. It's better than six worthless coasters.

i'd give you mine but i don't have my game here

Normally I'd take the attitude that no one should give out their CD key, but then I've never bought a game that didn't include one http://www.dreamcatchergames.com/forums/images/icons/icon8.gif
So I'm willing to accept any key if anyone is willing. Like I said, a banned key would work for my purposes.
This is really frustrating. I wanted to play this game in my free time over this weekend. I should have bought something else.

I´d love to give you my CD key but my copy is at dad´s house.
The game has to store the key somewhere in the Painkiller directory, I have no idea where tho.

I just got an e-mail from tech support today. I was asked to provide my name and phone number, and that they would get back to me with a new CD key. I sent the e-mail with the info and am awaiting reply. I'll post again in this topic with updates on the situation.

I went to the store with my sister who purchased a copy of the gold edition for me for my birthday, today. I tore the stuff up looking for the CD-KEY and can't find one, either. My sister has already left on her flight home earlier, so I can't return this POS. So, if you don't plan on playing multiplayer, might I suggest www. serials .ws under the "P" section for Pain-in-the-@$$ game - it just lists serial numbers, no cracks (that I'm aware of). Hey, at least it's installing now...

I got a receipt e-mail with a new CD key, no muss no fuss, didn't need to send jpgs of the CDs. So I'm fine now, problem solved (sucked that I had to wait throught the weekend, but oh well). Just e-mail tech support and tell them the deal and they should fix you up like they did me.

Now I´m starting to think they actually forgot to put the CD key on the gold edition...

What email address are you guys sending to to get the no CD Key thing corrected? The hours for support posted on their site aren't correct. It is actually 10-7 EST, which is luckily my exact work schedule.

I have sent multiple emails with a picture of all 6 CD's, the box they came in and a receipt and I am getting ZERO response from Dreamcatcher. Not even an acknowledgement that they are working on it. And of course, I tossed the box the other day, so I cannot return the game.
Urge to kill... rising...
Or, I could just get one off the net. I already found several valid keys... If Dreamcatcher doesn't want us to do this, then perhaps they need to pay a little attention to QC.

Maybe they´re busy with other customers.
Give this time, few years ago I waited a week for a reply about a graphical problem with Hexen 2 on my Geforce 2 card.

Bought Painkiller Gold @ Bestbuy also a few days ago...and of course no cd-key. After a quick lookup on the 'net I find this is a universal thing. So I scrambled top get my camera from my folks who I had loaned it to...25 miles away, and sent an e-mail first thing this morning...it's now 5:20 eastern time and i have yet to even get a reply...I'm freakin' out 'cause it's Friday and I gather these folks are not around on the weekends...So what am I to think...I spend my very hard earned cash on a game I really want to play...and I can't figure why they can't get back to me...I think the service is not exceptional to say the least...

I think you should take the illegal route. You got the rights, you payed for the game and you want to play it.

It's not illegal if I paid for the game. So that's what I did, I just grabbed a key off the net. If Dreamcatcher doesn't like it, they can get off their butts and send me my CD Key, at which point I will reinstall the game with the proper key. :-)

That's what I did...sure enuff...Weekend's here and no cd key...so i got an illegal one 'till they send me one...and they'd best do that as I'd expect to be able to play multiplayer on a game i shelled out 30 bucks for!...But not even a curtosy email to let me know they are getting around to sending me one...:(

DreamCatcher are really not doing their job. They´re supposed to support the game they made.
Woops, I forgot, they only give sh!t about the money.

Let me understand this situation, People are going to their local computer/games
store, plunking down their hard-earned cash for what should be a good game,
they get home and THEN find out there is no cd-key??? Man, I'm NOT buying
anymore dreamcatcher games, I don't care how good it is. I had problems
with the original PK game, it installed ok, but the protection on the game cd
wouldn't let the game run, I spent nearly a week trying to get it to run, so I
gave up on that and obtained a 'different' version of the game and
installed that instead, since I paid for PK (and kept the original cds) I'm not
doing anything wrong here. As far as I'm concerned, if their customers giving
DC their money isn't good enough to be-able to put/play one of their games
on your computer, then screw em'. Please note I'm NOT advocating piracy here, I'm just trying to make a point that DC (and/or their publisher) is going WAY tofar with this copy protection cr**. They have a right to protect their work, but to the point of keeping paying customers from playing a game they have bought. The only people that seem to get burned with this copy protection stuff is people that actually buy the game. Go figure...

Agree 100%.
They seriously need to start caring about their customers for a change...

I just want to say that for the record I got my Painkiller Gold Edition on Monday from EBX [Puerto Rico] and it HAD the CD Key. I have read a couple of threads on this and I was kind of scared that after waiting all this time [I will explain below] I couldn't play the game. I took the risk and bought it. :)
I bought Painkiller a couple of months before the expansion hit stores. After reading about a possible Collectors/Black/Gold Edition just a few weeks after that, I decided not to get the expansion and get the Gold edition instead. BUT it sure took it f* sweet time to get here. Even after stores like EB & Gamestop had the game listed as if it had already shipped it took 1 or 2 weeks after that to finally get it in. Whatever I finally got it and its f* sweet ;)
PS: What's going on lately with PC games? I know there have always been delays but games being "shipped" when they obviously havent and apperaing whenever on stores, GOD it sucks. Painkiller Gold, Psychonauts, Pariah, just to name a few. :(

Money is the key word here. They want their money, then the customers may go to hell or something, they don´t care...
