i just found these articles in IGN (http://www.ign.com/) and GamersHell (http://www.gamershell.com/).
and its funny they both have one shot from the game so far and thats the same lol (and old also)

IGN's article: (http://pc.ign.com/articles/604/604857p1.html?fromint=1)

New Quake 4 Details!
We get the word on the story behind the PC's next huge shooter.
by Eric Biessman, Project Lead, Raven Software (http://pc.ign.com/email.html)

April 15, 2005 - Well folks, we know you've been waiting for new info on Quake 4 for quite some time now and thankfully we can finally help you out a bit. Activision sent out this little bit of information today about the back story that players can look forward to enjoying. Along with this blurb comes a screenshot as well showing off the warrior Strogg (think along the lines a Borg from Star Trek on speed). Check out the info and then click on the screen for a better view of a character many of you will undoubtedly become very familiar with!

Earth is under siege by an alien race. The Strogg are cybernetic warriors--a mechanical frame and decaying body parts stabilized by flesh consumed in a systematic annihilation of other species and civilizations. In a desperate attempt to survive a Strogg attack on Earth, an armada of Earth's finest warriors is sent to take the battle to the Strogg home planet. Earth's initial assault force is nearly annihilated immediately, but one marine manages to infiltrate the base, bring down their planetary defense systems, and kill the Strogg's collective brain and leader--the Makron. Earth assumed the destruction of the Makron would end it all, but it didn't.

That's where QUAKE II leaves off and QUAKE 4 begins.

The Strogg are quickly regrouping. However, with the Strogg's planetary defenses still destroyed, Earth's forces can deliver a full and final assault. This time, you're not alone. You are Matthew Kane, an elite member of Rhino Squad, and part of Earth's next invasion wave. An army of soldiers are fighting with you and an arsenal of weapons and vehicles are at your disposal in this heroic and epic battle between worlds.

GamersHell's article: (http://www.gamershell.com/news/21483.html)

The main character is Matthew Kane, an elite member of Rhino Squad, and part of Earth’s next invasion wave against Strogg

Sending us a hi-res screenshot, Activision unveiled more details about the story behind Quake IV, the FPS with DOOM 3 engine in the works at Raven Software. If you remember Quake II, the Strogg are cybernetic warriors made by mechanical frame and decaying body parts stabilized by flesh consumed in a systematic annihilation of other species and civilizations. In Quake II, in a desperate attempt to survive a Strogg attack on Earth, humans sent an assault force to the Strogg home planet. Earth's initial assault force was nearly annihilated immediately, but one marine managed to infiltrate the base, bring down their planetary defense systems, and kill the Strogg's collective brain and leader: the Makron. Quake 4 will begin with a full and final assault of Earth's forces against Strogg’s planetary defenses. The direct sequel will consist of a combination of solo missions and battles, part of this military campaign against the Strogg homeworld. The missions will be both indoor and outdoor and we will control vehicules from time to time and will use weapons like blaster, machinegun, nailgun and shotgun.

i also saw an "updated info" (http://www.gamershell.com/infosheets/223190.html) in there (GamersHell) that u can also access from the main article if u'd like to, but here it goes:

as u noticed, the second part of each article is the same, but the first one that usually comes from the editors of each website, magazine, etc, differes.
but i thought wouldnt hurt to have it all collected in here.http://dreamcatcherinteractive.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif

This was posted originally on Oct 8, 2004:

This is all from a 10 page article in PCGamer. 10 Pages of content. More like a paragraph of useful information and 9 pages of nothing new screen shots and filler. Anyways, here ya go.

*Game focus on singleplayer.
*Quake 4 takes place just hours after Quake 2 ending.

*Tim Willits is a behind the scenes super-visor of Quake 4. This is a bad thing. Either he ****** up on Doom 3, or I don't like survivor horror games. And I am a System Shock 2 freak. If you thought D3 was scary, get System Shock 2. You'll wet yourself.

*Uses a version of the Doom 3 engine that has lighting and texturing tweaks.
*Your character is a "vital part of the war effort".
*Usually in the company of other marines (think CoD).
*Huge outdoor areas.
*More GORY than Doom3. Woot.
*Considers it self different from Doom 3 because it's a "Over the top action game" instead of a "Survival horror game".
*Features flying vehicles.
*Gunner, Gladiator, Strogg Marine are back, with variations of each.
*Will have swearing (something Doom 3 lacked).
*Features "Hovertank".
*Hovertank is 100% pilot able.
*Quote: "You'll be fighting, alone, with an army, indoors, outdoors, in vehicles, you name it."
*Quote: We want this game to feel like an action movie."
*NEW AI, the AI is supposed to be very smart, tacitly using terrain and firing positions. Quote: "Raven is paying a lot of attention to AI routines and situational level design in Quake 4".
*Levels designed with specific enemies in mind.
*Multiplayer is a 100% copy of Quake 3. It will play exactly the same. Will have more than 4 players. Will feature DM and CTF.

Side notes mentioned:
*Quake 2 is the best selling of the series.
*Quake 2 is the Quake that people give most positive feedback on

i never read any previous news about QuakeIV on the net, only magazines,
and so i didnt know about how old it was, as the matter of fact, i beleived it to be so new and i say this because of this part as listed in GamersHell news section:

16/04/05 04:34:36 News: Quake IV New Details (http://www.gamershell.com/news/21483.html)

but now i checked it again, the news date and title r still the same,
but its weird that the material has been changed and somehow well, renewed!
u can give it a click if u want.

Most of the gaming sites are showing the newer date for the updated info. As we know the gaming fans are normally faster at posting than major developers and publishers.

[ThePact]
04-26-2005, 12:02 AM
yes, it would appear so, but y would gaming sites would do such crazy thing?!

Plus: however that "new" part as i said in my previous post, seems to be really new, did u check it out? how was it? old, new?

I just spent about 20 mins at Gamershell and found most of the stuff on Quake IV is missing. I'm not sure why.

What I read earlier, when you first posted from there, was exactly what is on the Raven Games site. It seems like most of the gaming sites are posting the same thing.

We will probably know more after E3.

Quake 4 sounds like it´ll be a great game.
Smart AI and more "gory" sounds great. :D

Smart AI sounds great...
... and since it's not id that's working on this topic, it might be actually true :D

Bjossi

Yeah, Doom 3 is a good example of ID´s rather "stupid" AI...
Especially the Z-Sec soldiers.

of course quake4 is on my must have list... just hope they can do what they said in delivering a SP game with a Q3A style MP.

Interview with Tim Willits about Quake 4:

thanx kalme http://dreamcatcherinteractive.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif

seems like more details r comming out about QIV, anyone knows any approx release date yet?

in the interview, theres a part when IGN asks tim if theres been any other title influencing the developers ? Specifically, are there any elements that have been taken from other games and redone Quake style?

tim says absolutely none ! the developers have played some particular titles like Halo - Halo2 - and Call of Duty series, but only for fun and not as to take ideas form'em, well im wondering y would timmy even refere to such games that follow a different style of graphics or gameplay? just to distract us?

c'mon Timmy, bullsh|tting people right from the start? so it has to be a coincidence it looks alot like, FarCry, Riddick:Escape, even ID's DOOM III !!
and probably other games as well.
thats the part i dont like about "admiring" something, BullSh|t !!

Edit: someone please give me a glass of water lol

They will NEVER make it until August. Quakecon 2005 is from August 11-14, and like you may know, this will be the first time Q4 is shown to the public (at least the first confirmed time, some people speculate about footage at E3).

Bloodsoaked,

Thank for the link, great article. The more I read about it the more I look forward to playing.

The only thing I found lacking in the article was the lack of any mentioning of co-op game play. They do talk of playing with teammates in sp mode. Maybe that will allow co-op??

I just read this on the Ravengames forums:

Quote:
"Any scans or leaks found here WILL be immediately removed, by the way. Don't tempt me." By Gargoylol, Ravengames Administrator

It's interesting that so much is starting to show up in print as well as in some selected gaming sites and many other forums, yet Ravengames will not allow anything on their own forums.

After seeing those screenshots... I'm a LOT more interested in quake 4 now... Before when I heard about it I thought "Oh yay another quake game! Whoop dee doo..." Honestly...

Now I'm seeing a bit more... A whole lot more.

It's nice to see they created that dude off of the first quake 4 picture, the "Gladiator"...

Well! For now I'm still sticking with doom 3, I haven't touched mapping for awhile now, unfortunately... Been going back and playing oldies (Deus Ex, Homeworld: Cataclysm, Diablo 1) and I've been playing Diablo 2 a whole lot... I have a habit of going off subject...

If Quake 4 has the elements from Doom 3 that I like (Thrilling gameplay, gore, scary things), them I'm definately going to get more into this.

Quake? Which one? Lol.

Anyone went back to quake 1 before? I played it on my friends computer (since it don't work on mine) and wow... I never noticed how short it was...

Still wasn't bad though, didn't have any sound (he needs new speakers...)

I wanna play thief 2 :( why won't it run on my computer anymore since I updated drivers? Do I need to update the game?

CHFlagg

Any Quake game.

Yes, I have played quake 1 lately. I also have quake 2 and all its mods in my computers here at home. We like to play the co-op the best.

Scans have been removed, but you know where still to get them, right? ;-)

Indeed it looks like another D3 XP, but i don´t have a problem with that, since the D3 engine is so awesome looking.

For what i´ve seen so far, the enemies and enviroment, the design is superb.

This game will kick some serious ***!

I able to play more now that my arthritis is being cared for with Vicodin.

If the consoles would use keyboards and mice I would be one them playing as well.

I'm reading more and more about a new game called Hellgate:London that sounds interesting.

arthritis is such a concern when it comes to sitting on a chair for hours with no movement other than ur hand for the mouse, specially as age goes up, its such a bad thing :(

It's hard to stand up after playing for long period of a time.

My main problem is in my hands and holding a console controller is out of the question. I did it once. I had to pry my fingers off of it. That is why I do PC gaming.

Hellgate: London is going to be a first person RPG. So far looks good. I'm also looking at F.E.A.R and Prey

even i can feel the pain in my back when i stand up after sitting for a while, well i dont know whats gonna happen to me in like 20 years but it wont be good unless we take "extra" care.

but other than that i was wondering if u could post a link about Pray screenshots, the game will be released in 2006 and i cant find any shots from it anywhere,

thanx.

but i took a look at the cover of PCGamer and got the essense of the game,
if its quiet welldone as the cover artwork, then it could be a "one of all times" ! :)
