Hello everyone, I just discovered Dungeon Lords today and am downloading the demo as I type this. I have a couple questions and hopefully someone can help me out. ;)

1) Will this game have a meaningful multiplayer? By that I mean an actual online service (ie Diablo II's Battle.net) or it will be an uninspired p2p hookup (Dungeon Siege)?

2) Are there any fansites following this game? I've a done a few searches and haven't found any sites covering this game. Do many more than a handfull of people even know this game exists? :)

To your first question i can answer with some bad news..it doesn't use anything like battle.net..but then again this is just the demo. you connect to someone by first getting there ip address..the problem is if you are behind a router, it's very hard to start a multiplayer game, in fact when i tried to do a coop game with a friend, neither of us could connect to the other..i couldn't get my ip address using the program..it only had my local one, and apparently that's only for LAN. i was some what disappointed at this as I am sure you will be, I was actually looking foward to co-oping. sorry.

as for fansites, i haven't really looked, but if you can't find any that's not really that surprising, considering the game has not really been released yet, besides the demo, and the demo was good, but had it's flaws. you'll probably find one or two after release. guild wars has lots of fantsites already, but I believe that is in part because of ArenaNet supporting them and using their forums instead of making official forums.

I don't know any dedicated fan sites but good RPG sites like...um...RPGDot will give you comprehensive news coverage. ;)

DL is focused on a strong single-player and coop experience, so the game isn't really designed to played like Diablo on Battle.net. To be honest, there are plenty of other games that cater to that market.

Diablo and Diablo 2 are also focused on single/co-op experience, the strong PvP is an accidental side-affect. They stated numerous times that they werent 'willing' to support pvp and that is the reason why it is so un-balanced. Nevertheless PvP in D2 is more fun than co-op or single IMO.

Hmm, after playing the demo for a bit and looking around at what others are saying about this game, I think I'm going to pass on it. There is no community for this game at all. Most RPGs have at least a half dozen fansites going leading up to their releases. And with multiplayer being non-existant, I don't see this game selling well.

Oh well.. Dungeon Siege II will be released this summer, so perhaps I'll have to wait till then.

Dungeon Siege is the game for bland ol' borring guys with no sense of brains..so tried of clicking and intensly and watching my health bars while drinking potions till my eyes hurt. I never saw any challenge in clicking. The only challenge there is seeing if you can sit for hours clicking monsters and waiting for exp to level you up. Yawn. I'll stick with Dungeon Lords, thank you.

why someone who loves a game would start/maintain a fansite (other then to create an ad site to leach off of fans) rather then actually play a game is beyond me.

besides, 99% of fansites are regurgitated marketing materials fed by the publishers, great for the publisher, but what's the point?

in any case, glad this game isn't a replacement for diablo2 (which i still think sucks, SP or MP)
