I am at the point in the coliseum immediately after the passage way that is blocked by the wooden rams that go in and out of the wall. I am standing before a pit filled with stakes and see another pit and haze beyond that.

Is there some way to the other side other than jumping. I have said in several posts that I suck at jumping but that was always in relationship to trying to get to coins, powerups, secrets. Never before has my required progress been blocked by a jump. I suck at jumping.

If there is no way to move forward other than jumping I will have to use a cheat and I hate that.

All help/hints appreciated.

Others have mentioned having difficulty with this as well, and for some reason, always the pit jumping.

Have you tried doing the jump with multiple bunnyhops to get up momentum first? The first pit is the easiest to jump because you have plenty of room to build up momentum. The rest are a bit trickier requiring bunnyhopping around in a circle in the little rectangular space you have to use, but it's definately something that can be done without cheats.

I encourage you to try it this way first, and persist even if you only come slightly closer to making it each time. Eventually, you'll get the technique down if you stick with it.

If you absolutely cannot improve on your technique, then you can use the Powermad mod to no clip across the pits. If you no clip across the area ahead with the spiked balls though, and the section of bridge just before it does not collapse, it will not show up in the Objects Destroyed list, which can keep you from getting the 5 Star, if you're going for it.

Be sure to read the readme on install and such. In case you don't know, no clip is being able to fly anywhere in the level, much like spectator mode on some MP maps.

You can also take a look at

There are some videos that show the jumps in detail, maybe they'll help you too.
