what patches do i need to brink my game up to date??

my version is 1.00. i downloades patch 1.61 / 1.62 / and 1.64

when i tried to install 1.61 it had an error message and stopped the install
my version now says 1.01 are there other patches i need to put in first???

oh ya and of course the game does not work now,

You were on the right way, you need all of them. 1.61, 1.62 and 1.64. Unfortunately, you've got a corrupt version of patch 1.61 (therefore the error message during installation). You have to re-download it from another source (the source you used before hosts an erroneous version, this was no transmission error). I recommend www.gamershell.com, their version is reported to be ok.

...like to know since you guys are still listing Filefront and Fileshack as 1.61 sources, whether they still have corrupt versions or not, have any of you even checked?

Obviously after many of us have experienced problems with those sites, we'd rather not download them again to do your checking for you, that's DC's responsibility.

im just wondering about one thing. and im not trying to make it look like its ur responsblity or something, no! just asking really,

I don't know how they would... but I'll investigate. Seems strange since they would have received it from us.

I just personally downloaded all of the patches from FileShack and installed a new copy of Painkiller on my system and everything works fine. I will do the same for FileFront and report my findings.

So in summary, everything is fine with the FileShack files - there is no corruption. I think the problem is occuring when people are downloading the files with a dial-up modem and some of the files don't get downloaded properly. I'll post a note that says that people with dial-up connections have been experiencing a higher success rate with Gamers' **** files - for whatever reason.

...I have high speed DSL (1.5MB), and have had corrupt patches from Filefront AND Fileshack that won't install due to error= -5.

The other reliable sources however worked fine, so perhaps something has been done at those sites due to complaints.

I check my actual DL speed periodically, and it's always around 1.25 Mbps.

i actually remember seeing people with corrupt patches from
even fileplanet other than those u downloaded from.
and its certainy not the connection, because then a certain
group of people would always be complaining about the same issues !


but well, its likely the sites might have updated their patches.

Now, for the big question, and one I've been avoiding for some time. Do you know if there is any talk going on about a possible PK 2? I'm sure there are enough FPS players out there that would still be interested in this style of game, especially if it were advertised well on the game sites.

So if Im reading everything correctly here , If I just want to do the "Single Player" thing only , I only need to update to patch 1.62 and not bother with 1.64 , is this correct? , I never did have a problem with the "Docks" level , I dont play Painkiller MP , due to those dumb brightskins , and bunnyhopping.It just looks to me that 1.64 is a MP fix only , please correct me if Im wrong.

EDIT : and ya I FINALLY got my hands on BooH.
