stuck in babel where it caves in

hi all
its me again....hehe....anyway im perplexed here....ill explain this as good as possible...now im stuck in an area where i walked up some stairs to get to a checkpoint ok?....after i hit the checkpoint the stairs get blocked and i cant go down because thats blocked.....ok now im walking in an area....ok as im walking suddenly it caves in....and im stuck in that area....u can see the bottom but the weird part is if i jump down these i die right away....now no matter where i try and go down there i die....its like im 1 row up from the bottom....now theres places to go up but i cant see a way to get up there...and i can see a megahealth thing wayyyyyyyy up there...now i know i have to get to the bottom because i see ammunition and barrels down so so when i get down there there will be monsters to kill....i mean i cannot find a way to get down to the bottom...now am i supposed to find a way to get to the bottom?....ive played this game this far and never got stuck as to where to go or what to do next....no matter how i try and get down there i die...am i supposed to get to the top?....ive tried a few areas to go but everytime i just die instantly....weird...and theres no monsters to kill unless i get to the bottom....im gonna try and do this myself a while and see if i can do it...i know u know this 1 FRAG....hehe....help me pleaseeeeee....

After you pass through the checkpoint, you have to bunnyhop like mad to get to the wall that's left of the checkpoint. Do it fast enough and you'll *just* make it to the outside of the wall, where the floor does not collapse.

What works for me is to stay to the right - as soon as the floor starts to shake, RUN LIKE H*LL! I've always made it to the top w/out falling.

Once the floor has collapsed, you can still get around. The first time I played the level, I backed up when the floor started to crumble. If you look at the wall to the right of where the floor used to be, there are very small ledges. It takes great timing and skill with jumping around corners (there's a similar ledge around every corner), but it is possible as I did it on my first try.

If you aren't very good at jumping, load a save and run for it!

...the same exact thing to someone else asking. The FAQ and walkthrough on this are not a full explanation, nor the easiest way.

The collapse can be triggered if you go forward a bit at a time slowly, then hop back immediately where you were, after which you hop along the broken ledge pieces along the right wall.

I like this way because it's easiest, and you can get up to the secret area and ammo on your way to the level end. With later patch versions, there's no reason you can't get everything on your way to the level end, even the first Holy Item is reachable via the jump into the base of the tower across the courtyard by using a barrel to help you up (without exploding it that is):D .
