Hey all, I just found out about this game (yeah yeah, I don't read much "new release" stuff much) and the preview I read makes the game sound VERY MUCH like the Morrowind. Everything from the FPS perspective, using player "skill" in combat (i.e. dodging, swinging swords and so on) to the free-form environment.
Can anyone tell me what is significantly different between the games (except that this is new)?
One thing that I didn't like about Morrowind was that it didn't have a structured enough story... I kind of meandered about and lost interest.... Is that something that I might expect from Dungeon Lords?

I don't believe Dungeon Lords has a first person view. Or does it?
I think it will have a more structured story then Morrowind but I don't think it will be very good. In terms of story the game seems to come across as more of a diablo 2. Where the story is definitely there but just as a subset to gameplay. Otherwise they would have been yelling and screaming about how good the story was. Funny how game company's yell and scream about the features they are working hard at while not telling you about the stuff that is just going to be okay (Who hasn't heard of radiant AI yet?).

Couple of quick observations.
1) Play the demo to get a feel for DL
2) MW's combat "system" was, well, lame. DL's seems much more exciting and tactically engaging.
3) MW's leveling system is mostly use based, unless you purchase your level. DL's seems more spending based. Earn points, spend 'em how you like.
4) MW's magik system is good old fashioned mana based. DL's is a variety, depending on the school. Arcane is charges, Celestial is regenerative, Nether is component and charge based and Rune is component and mana (?) based.
5) This is subjective at this point, but I don't see DL's world being quite as complex and vast as MW. Seems much more simple, paint by numbers fantasy. And no matter what they say, I'll believe it's as massive as MW when I see it. I've poured tons of hours into MW and have seen only a fraction of the island.
6) This remains to be seen, but if DL follows the loot style of the demo, it will be much more loot-happy than MW. More D2 like. Doesn't seem that you'll be struggling to make money and aquire really useful stuff as much as you have to in MW.
7) By Dreamcatcher's own words, stealth and the like just aren't a big part of DL's design. As everyone knows, you can spend lots of time in MW slinking around and stealing stuff.

I love the freedom to go anywheres at anytime in Morrowind. Anyhow I prefer not to think about what may or maynot be similar between two games but instead play each for what they are...

morrowind is over rated it gets boring fast the combat is boring and the world feels like its covered in mud its a big world but its nothing special and plus it crashing every 2 minutes ;)
i dont think Dungeon Lords will be anything amazing but it will probably be way more fun then morrowind.

morrowind and dungeon lords are like apples and oranges, just because they're rpg games with swords doesn't make them anywhere near the same, nor would i want them to be.

True. Just think that the poster wanted to get an idea of how they're different. Each will have its own strengths and weaknesses.
Just the other night, as I was getting my butt kicked by one of those **** Dark Brotherhood assassins, I was wishing I had the DL backflip to get the heck away from the dude. :D

Truer words were never spoken ;)
On the MW vs. DL thing - obviously we don't know yet, but so far as we think:
- The world size is between Gothic & Morrowind.
- The combat is more like JKII or Blade of Darkness than Gothic or Morrowind.
- There will be a linear 'main quest', with sub-quests and side-quests
- The will be an ending
