Painkiller, wont open saved games

Im pretty far into the game and all of a sudden It shuts down when I try to load any saved games, checkpoints or autosaves. The game minimizes and a window opens offering three options, close, retry and ignore. Anybody else encounter this??

Nope, never had this. Have you tried re-applying the latest patch?

I've also had the same problem, this game has more problems than any other game ive ever owned.

What patch version are you using?

The answer's to these two questions will help us to fiqure out the problem.

i also had the error that it wouldnt open any saves that were saved during gameplay, ie. checkpoints or saves i did myself..


i found this patch, but havent had a chance to check if it fixes it yet...

If you guys updated the game, your saves probably got outdated, I think Kalme´s Savegame Compactor can update savegames to the same version as the game.

But autosaves should work, so this might be something else. If 1.3 users are having problems with saves, try 1.31.

ok, well i was using 1.3, the 1.3.1 patch fixed the problem loading in game saves :)


i have to try to dl the other updates now.. ugh.. slow modem n all :S

That might ruin your savegames, you should make a backup of them before updating.
And try Kalme´s SaveGame Compactor to convert the savegames to 1.61 and above, you can download it here (www.kalme.de/painkiller/files/savegame-compactor.zip). :)
