To use a 2 handed sword or big shield you had to waste points on small sword then longsword before you got any benefits on the sword you wanted to use. same with shield. so now to be a fighter i wasted two lots of points
but to use bow you got it straight away.. :( or thief or the type of magic you wanted
o well time to buy it now .. ill be back

as long as the 2H'der outdamaged the bow i think i could live with it. but if they did the same damage, then i'd agree with you.

So you want to instantly use the 2HND sword of instant death with no penalties and dawn the best armor in the game? I like the way it forces you to work your way up to using better items. Oh and on magic note the full release will have a cast chance reliant on skills/intelligence so I won't get to cast my uber firball of massive death at start either. thieves... don't they use weapons/armor also?

no i dont want to use the 2hsword of instant death with no penalties and dawn the best armor in the game
READ MY LIPS :(
i said i found it unfair for fighters to go through short sword skill then long sword skill just to PICK UP a 2hs. sure put penalties on it like strength or eg: say the 2hs hits for 20-30 pts of damage, you may start of with 1 or 2 skill pts in it so you can only hit for 3-10 pts or whatever. same with amour, and the more pts you put into it the more damage you can dish out or absorb if its amour.
and yes thieves... use weapons/armor but how come they can pick up and use a bow straight away, wheres there penilty? they dont have 2 start off with throwing small knives etc

Fighter can start with swords not just the more damaging ones, I don't see the difference. either you have to wait for adv points to up stats/skills to use better bows or you have to wait for adv points to put into stats/skills to use better weapons.... I know the demo in this respect was totally unabalanced becasue no restrictions were in place for most things so someone could play with stuff right away rather than wait for x number of levels to play with the better bows/weapon/spells.... I hope the full release is better in this respect, I wouldn't think a first bow you find will do the same damage a 2hander sword will do, but we won't know till we buy it :) It all comes down to the points per level of skill needed and what the erquirements for objects are in full release, hopefully they did balance it so begginer archer aren't uber compared to starting fighters and vice versa.

Aren't you allowed to use the 2H without the skill? I think so. You just suffer massive penalties, right?

yup. At least from the demo, but I'm pretty sure it's still in the full game.

Yes, but you can't function with it until your get some points in the skill. Too much penalty and your better off hand to hand. Maybe they'll put in one that doesn't have penalties that does same damage as a short sword  IMO my fighter would rather wait than have useless swords like that, but then I never go 2hnd sword either.... If the game allows it (DL does :) ) I go dual weild.
