When purchasing a game, I often - almost always - wait for reviews from game sites and users. If the game has a lot of hype, I'll rush out and buy it. Unless there are game-stopping bugs, I don't mind playing a game with a few minor bugs here and there.

For those of you who played the game or demo, what other games is Dungeon Lords comparable to? Is there lots of customization in the game (i.e. in terms of skill selection, classes, etc.)?

One thing I love about an RPG is if the rules are well understood. I don't want to know every single formula that the game uses, but I'd like to know that if I increase my character's strength his damage output goes up.

The skill system and race/class selection is definitely the strongest aspect of the game, in my opinion. There are the 4 basic classes to start (fighter, mage, cleric, thief) that then branch off into prestige-type classes later, as you enter guilds, etc.

The skill system is a pay-as-you-play system where you are constantly upgrading skills based on your accumulation of experience (rather than waiting for a level-up, as in D&D). I think you will find the RPG system to be quite flexible and easy-to-learn.

Honestly, if you can look past the real-time combat, which is probably most comparable to Gothic (or something like Die by the Sword) in its implementation, the RPG engine under-the-hood looks pretty solid.

I, for one, LOVE the combat system. This is the first RPG kind of game I've played where there are real tactics to your melee combat. The timing and moves and options and controled blocking, etc give it the best feel for hand to hand combat that i've seen yet.

I totally agree.
I think some people have a misconception of this game.
I have seen alot of comparing to games like KOTOR and Warcraft
Its more like Jedi Academy,or even Deus Ex in gameplay/concept.
I personally really like the action RPG type game, especially when it has the potential to be very open ended on the character creation.
I had no probs with the demo, ran good even in the areas i wasnt supposed to be in.
And for the record,if you couldnt figure out how to get the demo off your PC,you might want to get some PC lessons! LOL

I say wait for reviews, obviously it isn't you're preferred style of gameplay or you'd already of pre-ordered it due to lack of other games lately like this... It doesn't hurt to wait for forum reviews (they'll be more honest than magazine ones). If you hear hundreds of complaints about bugs and such (and they aren't all from GuruChaz) then don't buy, otherwise enjoy :D

If you mean WoW, then I hope it has more flexibility than it. WoW really doesn't have a large spectrum of possible skills/talents. It's a lot more about questing/items. I did enjoy Deus Ex, but I prefer a fantasy setting which is why I'm looking at this game. I never mind about how games run in regards to performance, since i'll turn down settings if necessary. Gameplay is much more of a factor for me.

Well, I'll probably try the demo this weekend. Why would I need to figure out how to get the demo off my computer?

Basically, the demo doesn't make any calls to the Windows registry, so to remove the demo simply delete the installation folder. There's no uninstall option, something you typically see with other consumer-grade software products.
