Here's a little something I cooked up while pondering another way to Varus' second way to use the City On Water tower jump pad.

...yeh I caught your reply, and gave you an answer to your specifics about what you suggested.
I've been busy makin' that crazy vid you just saw, and trying to figure out how to make an animated gif out of pieces of one of my video clips to use as an avatar. I've DLed a free program called Unfreeze that makes them by loading gif thumbs into it, and I've used Movie Maker to take numerous snapshots of one particular scene, but I can't find a way to export the snapshots into a file/folder where I can then convert them to gif and resize.

To take snapshots from a movie, you can also use radvidtools. Better say: It converts the completly movie in jpg´s! Also you can convert the whole movie in some formats, and also to a standalone .exe movie.
but be carefull, and create a directory first to save the jpgs, because there come a lot of hundrets :D
if you want: http://painvids.darkscorner.de/tools/RADTools.exe
ca. 1,5 MB

Size of avatars in this forum is limited to 19.5 KByte. This doesn't leave much room for an animated gif. You have to host it somewhere else if it gets bigger...

...avatar size gifs I've made are only about 5kb, if I could do something using only four frames it might work then?
I was hoping the file size was only read by each single frame that flashes, rather than the sum of them, but oh well, I've got vids to make, and that'll have to suffice.:)

...to make a snapshot of a movie use the MediaPlayerClassic and save image as...
LoL @ Frag - just watched your funny vid...yeah...that's a nice way - it's crazy, so I ike it... ;) :)
And I see your movie-make-skill improve more and more...

...Movie Maker showed up in the My Videos folder. I'd like to get a few pointers on an animated gif avatar, like the one you did of sizzle boy there.
I've DLed Unfreeze, so I can make one if I can get the file size right. I assume you used about 4 frames, each under 4.875 kb, since the limit is 19.5 kb on avatars here?
Glad you guys liked the vid, it would have made a much more appropriate birthday present for you Varus, but much too late I'm afraid.;)

LOL, another crazy guy on the Forums... :D I'm betting that collecting those barrels took some time... ;) Very nice, thanks for the show!

...of a chore as placing them all neatly around the crate like that, just when I had most of them moved down off the bridge, one of them would go rolling down the ramp too fast for me to stop it from going in the water, so then I started to quicksave more.
It's funny how I still don't know if all those green barrels really added anything to the height of the explosion, I was wondering if that crate only reacts to the silver one. I also didn't expect the whole thing to explode just by shooting the rocket into the crate, I thought I'd have to shoot the silver barrel, which was my first plan, but that left me not centered over the crate, so I tried it the way you saw it the first time.
The reality of that clip is, after a few unsuccessfull atempts just to get up onto the crate like that, I shot that take the first try at exploding it, and was never able to get as high with any take after that. Most of them in fact were duds, with no boost upward at all.:D

Yes, it's very interesting anyway, because it's very close to the "Rocket-Jump". Even if it needs luck, I definitely must try it once...
To answering Your question about the barrels: yes, only the silver barrel blows away that crate. I know it, because I tried it earlier: earlier I didn't notice that there's a silver barrel in the groups of green barrels, and I tried it with the green ones (You know, I just picked up one and that's it)..but they didn't work. They just blowed up, and the crate stayed on its place. So, only the silver barrel works. Hmm, at least when You're trying to blow away the crate with one single barrel..LOL! :D But that would be interesting to try it with more than one green barrels anyway...

...barrels so neatly around that crate, 16 in all. I contemplated getting a mic and recording a little intro while hopping up on the crate with a sort of pirate voice saying "Sixteen barrels and a bottle of rum,...if I land just right my arse will be numb!":D

...clip though, "You da man!"...nobody comes close to what you did with that "Varus Can Fly" video:D, it was truly awesome!
BTW, I took a look at you map progress on "The Hill" over at Dark's Corner, can't wait to play it, I bet it'll be awesome too!;)

frag can i ask u something?
havent u been recently graduated form an art institute ?! http://dreamcatcherinteractive.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif
the starwars style was great ! so was the vid.
but u know what would have been better to put in the text at the end regarding varus?
"varus Yo Da man" instead of "varus you da man"
because yoda as u probably know, is that old, short guy (with huge ears and bald head) in starwars who is the mastermind of jedi side. http://dreamcatcherinteractive.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif

Hmm... You do know all you have to do to get the jump pads to throw you higher is increase the value of the jump pad in the PainEd...
:P
I like it though, must have had a lot of time on your hands to push all those barrels :D

to push all those barrels
thats the beauty of it in my opinion!
but then again,
it comes with even more beauty when he shares it.

"varus Yo Da man" instead of "varus you da man"
...that didn't cross my mind as I was mulling over the possibilities.
I guess when you do your own producing, directing, and acting, the quality control suffers.:D
Maybe I should seek your advice on the next one Pact.;)

"Hmm... You do know all you have to do to get the jump pads to throw you higher is increase the value of the jump pad in the PainEd..."
...my not knowing how to do it, I wanted to see how much I could juice out of the stock settings without any modifications OR the jump pad for that matter, so I'm not sure the Pain Ed tweaks would have helped in that situation, being as I launched via explosion from the crate, not the jump pad.
"I like it though, must have had a lot of time on your hands to push all those barrels."
Yes the barrel manuevering was annoying, but oddly enough more so in getting them to the crate, rather than setting them in place. Some of them got a mind to roll down the bridge and into the water before I could stop them.:D

Eh... Pushing the white barrel to it to get rid of the box altogether isn't too hard, but I've had it roll into the water once... Missed the jump over it and I pushed it in.. Lol.

...16 while rounding them up and moving them as quick as possible can make a fiasco out of it if you don't set barrels the right way at the bottom of the bridge ramp to keep them from rolling into the drink.
It's either that or take forever rolling and herding one barrel at a time.

Sounds like a cue for some Laurel+Hardy stylee barrel rounding up fun!!
Frag Maniac

...clips from the "herding" process, but I couldn't see putting THAT much work into something I had no guess as to what the outcome would be. As it turned out I was happy to have "rocketed" as high as I did. After I set all the barrels in place around the crate, I shot the silver barrel a few times from a distance, and though it went straight towards the tower like I wanted it too, it didn't have nearly the height I achived on that recorded attempt.
The sample explosions of the crate might have made for nice additions to the clip, it was kind of like kicking field goals with a real bang!:D
