Hi guys, I installed Painkiller (Not BooH) and have been playing it for about 2 weeks. Now, I havn't changed ANYTHING, and I have no patches, just a fresh install and it has been great, but now (The 3rd Week) , everytime I save or load the game just crashes back to the desktop, no error message or anything!

Do I need to download any of the patches to fix this?

I'm also sorry if this has been posted and fixed before.

Thanks

Do you use quick saves?

Yes...and quick load (Quick Load Crashes)...why?

Oh, and even if I save or load from the menu it crashes...

Meh...

I use to have this problem as well. The only fix was to delete some auto saves and then save! Something to do with the HDD being fragmented!

There is another type of save problem.
If you check your savegames directory, see how many folders are in there. I think the names of the folders in the savegame folder are called 001, then 002 etc.

Itīll take forever to delete hundreds of saves ingame tho, so I recommend going to the Painkiller directory and find the savegame folder, click folder 001, hold down shift and click maybe 700, and all folders between 001 and 700 will be selected.

Now, delete them and problem should be solved. (if there arenīt 999 folders, your problem has a different solution)

I hope this helps you. :)
Btw, make sure you arenīt deleting your current save. ;)

If you want to save HDD space and prevent this problem, delete old saves regularly. When I beat a level, I delete all saves from it except the autosave for the next level.

why does PK create those files anyway? It's a pain to go in there and delete all of those files.
