View Full Version : Bug problems/missing features?

I'm quite disappointed, I got my Full Version today and installed it. Where to start?
First thing I notice, I am unable to change my character's looks at all. So I suck it up and move on. Make myself a warrior to get going to see what things are like. First thing I notice is my warrior is left handed...ok, not such a bad thing but I'd prefer right handed or at least a choice.
I go to the campfire talk to the stooge there and get the letter. A goblin comes out of nowhere and I try to kill it. Soon as I hit the thing the game locks up, total freeze. Have to hit the power button. So I restart, run over to the ruin temple thing near the beginning, I get a black screen lock up, same deal. Now I'm guessing I'm going to say this is probably my graphics card, a 128mb Radeon 9600 series. Which is more than capable of handling this game. I"m going to try to find out if i have the latest drivers before officializing this as a rant.
Why did the game come with a CD Key, I didn't even have to enter it? You don't even need the CD to play the game I've noticed.
If anyone knows some quick fixes or is experiencing these problems, please post here.

yeah I saw that as well, I changed up,
I still have the crashes, seems like it will do it in combat most often of all. Its really frustrating. I feel like I've been robbed of 40 bucks. or rather however much it was I spent on my Video Card, don't remember how much. My friend has my old GeForce 3 card in his computer, he is having zero problems. I will never buy ATI again

That's funny. I have a ATI 9200 and the demo ran just fine except for the "stars make the whole nighttime sky blink" problem, which CHUK22 said specifically that they fixed. Hmmm.. I'll report back here if I have any trouble with the retail.

Thats pretty stupid that you can't change your character appearance in the so called "full" version. Just wondering if they're going to bother patching it, or will they just ignore it like how they ignored it when they released it in the first place.

I hope so, since there is a patch on its way.

Ok
I recieved two CD 2's (so a total of 4 CD's) in my full version. The first install with the first CD 2 did not display a save option on the options menu only
Options
Resume Play
Exit game
Uninstalled.
Reinstalled.
Second CD 2 yielded
Save Game
Resume Play
Exit Game
So basically I got two CD 2's and neither is complete.
Also I do not need to have the CD in the drive for it to run.
Have not even started to play.

I am also unable to change my character's appearance. I have a HP Pavillion laptop with a GeForce card.
Why do they bother to give us appearance change buttons if they only work for certain graphics cards?

They dont work at all regardless of your graphics card. It like the map is non functional part of the game. Very buggy beginning but lets hope like Sacred (dont like the game but great Devs') they fix all the bugs as they are found.

Thing is, consumers get screwed by being given a beta product. The devs knew of the bugs and yet still chose to release the product, then they take their time fixing the bugs. I mean look at the bug fix list, they don't even mention the customization issue, they just say right handed added. More and more game companies are doing the same thing. Rushing items out the door and then taking their sweet time fixing them. Yet all the while, the consumer get stuck with a shotty product. Who's to blame, the devs, the publisher, the non existant beta testers (oh wait, that's us)?
I believe that both the devs and publishers are to blame. If the devs wanted to, they could have fought for more time to correct the issues but they chose to cave in and release it. The publisher doesn't care about quality, they care only about profit. I mean they are a business after all, games cost money to make and the if it takes longer to release a product than projected, well that's money they are not making. So it's in the publishers best interest to release a fast a possible to maximize profit, consumer be damned!

try ALT + TAB or CTRL + ALT + DELETE
when game locked up for me in menu this worked for me to exit the game to desktop and end processes

I have waited for this game for a long time after hearing about it. Finally, as the days approached for the game's release - it kept getting pushed back by 2 days in my area. It did that for about 2 weeks.
Finally, I go out and to try to buy the game, only to have lost the money (it fell out of my pocket) - and then finally I go and get the game, race home, install it - AND IT'S NOT FINISHED???!!!
WTF - The game for what works, which at this point isn't a whole lot looks nice.
Here's some free advice for anyone that wants to write PC games in the future. BETA TEST! BETA TEST! BETA TEST!
Make sure that every aspect of the game works flawlessly before you release it. If you do that, you will find that the gamers will be a lot happier.
Oh and another thing - seeing how this is my first post to the forum and all I couldn't help but notice alot of people are whining about left vs. right handed characters? WHO GIVES A FLYING F&*%??? That is just a little too **** retentive to me.
Big difference in important issues here - on one hand (and no i'm not telling you left or right ;) ) you have issues like, oh lets see, the map doesn't work, during character creation not all features such as hair work, game freezes when changing screens... vs. "I think its a bug because my character uses a left handed weapon?"
Think about it.

lol! But it's not Heuristic Park's fault. They are the programming company who created the game. More than likely, the company that forced their game out was the distrobution company Dreamworks. Two different companies.

Me being the biggest and greediest money grubbing ******* on the earth, I would make a much better president for the publishers of DL (Dreamcather I think). I would make the most money for the best products with little cost comming out of my pocket.
I'm pretty sure any braindead moron would figure out that a game unfinished will not get good reviews which would result in...
hmm... lets see... *common sense gears ticking*
...less money. Wow! I'm surprised they didn't think of that.
