Okay....
I love RPG's...I've been waiting for this game because one of my FAVORITE features is "Building" your character. Appearance, colors...making it more custom.
We all know you can't change your appearance due to a bug...but the question is..
Is this a BUG they SHIPPED KNOWINGLY?
Only "Race" and "Class" light up when they all should.
NOW, go look in your handbook that COMES WITH THE GAME..
In the picture describing what to change, only race and class are lit up.
Did they ship this KNOWING that had a bug at the START of gameplay?
OMG! Did they know!? OMG OMG
conspiracy..

Most likely they did know but they had to ship, same type of issues with Kotor 2. Bugs were known upon shipping but the dev and publisher decided to ship anyways. Then they took months just to release a patch that fixed some of the issues.
If you look in the DL readme it gives this statement under known issues:
'For balance reasons, some spells/skills listed in the manual have been removed or may not be fully active.'
Yet they don't tell you which spells/skills were changed. In other words, the game was rushed and the above line thrown in at the last moments.
*sigh* I waited this long for the game only to be given a barely playable game. Burned by yet another game company. :(

They did know ... there have already been reports of imminent patches, I saw a tidbit somewhere on Worthplaying.
Heard rumor of other stuff in progress.
There is also an 'update' section on the official site - empty so far.

Yep, they knew, didn't give a crap and released it anyways. They couldn't afford beta testers so they got the bright idea to have the consumer (that's us kiddies) to pay to be beta testers, and guess what, we did. Lucky us! :(
So now that most have caught on to their little scheme, they are saying (notice the word SAYING) they are working on a patch to fix some issues (oh look, now I will be able to choose to play right handed...oh joy :( ) yet they are still ignoring other issues. Just read the multitude of post on different issues and compare it to their suppose fix list and you'll see. So congratulations on your purchase of Dungeon Lords and welcome to the Beta Testing Team!

Please help support the programmers in a positive manner as they fix this game. It's not their fault that the development company management told them to get the game out or else.
People work better with encouragement rather than tearing them down.

I agree. Discouraging them only makes it worse. I say we should be glad that they are working on a patch.

Actually a shotgun to the head also works wonders! ;)
Oh no, don't go taking away blame from the developers, they KNEW their product was not finished, yet they chose to agree to release it anyways. Developers do have sayso in such issues. Management and such go by what the dev team says, yes, they can override them but that is rare. So don't go taking away from one of the guilty parties.
Also a game works better when it is complete instead of beta.

We should BE GLAD they are working on a patch?!?!
WTF?! What kind of Ghandi-esque placidity were you brought up with? We should be GLAD that they are kind enough to maybe fix a few things that are broken with something they sold us?
Dude..you are a crackhead.. glad my ***. We shouldn't be glad, we should be DEMANDING that it's fixed.
YOUR mom might have given you yer allowance early so that you could buy a game, but this money came out of MY pocket.
When I spend almost fifty bucks on something, I'm not "glad" it works, I EXPECT it to work, and I'm pissy when it doesn't.
God **** sheep.

Okay. Let's clear this up. The game itself is GOOD. I'm impressed. I'm not *happy* with the plethora of BUGS, but it is a good game, and I never said it is "crap dont buy" without an apostrophe in "don't". I said I'm unhappy with the bugs, and I'd like to change my character's appearance and do everything the game touts that it can do.
Don't throw words in my mouth...

Calm down dude. I can understand that your pissed off, but **** you dont have to be an ***.
Not very many (at least that I've seen) dont put out patches, or at least take a loong time. At least they are doing a patch and not leaving us in the dark.

I can see both sides of this situation. On one hand, I as the consumer who waited and waited for this game to come out, then finally get my claws on it finally get home, install it, only to discover that the game not only has bugs but also is not quite finished. This really made me mad.
On the other hand, I as a programmer know that deadlines must be made. The people who wrote and developed the game ARE PEOPLE TOO. They have bills, just like us. They have to buy groceries, just like us. They have to do all the stupid things, like go to work, JUST LIKE US!
The more we show interest in the game and the fact that WE WANT IT FIXED, the faster they will get it done. If the forum just fills up with "This is bullshit, yada yada yada" - they might just say the **** with it and move on to something else and chalk it up to a bad experience. This means all of us paid $40.00 for a broken game that WON'T get fixed and they move on to the next project.
I say support them for now - have a little patience - and then if it doesn't get fixed - well then... I will just have to summon my army of shadow dragons to go and gently persuade them to keep focused :)

I'm calm enough...it's the
"You're lucky they are patching it"
and the "Its only 40 dollar" crew that are sincerely pissing me off.
I like the game. Infact I've got about 5 hours in..as I've been limiting myself to play until its fixed (I'm going to restart once I can customize my character).
But I seriously believe it should have been "pushed back" until it was a lot more stable. Oh and get this.
A lot of these aren't bugs. A lot of these they *had* to know about before it shipped. That kicks them out of the "Bug" category and throws them into the "problems we know about, but don't completely stop you from playing the game, so we can still SHIP it" category. I've worked in the computer industry long enough to know when **** like that happens. They pushed it back a million times, what would be a few more?
Its honestly SAD that its getting so acceptable to throw out buggy software just to meet a deadline because you know the end user now is very proficiant in patching.
What happened to buying something and having it WORK? How pissed would you be if you didn't have internet access (Yes, I know, unthinkable but a lot of people either still don't, or like me, have a hard time hitting the net because of where they live. I'm limited to a max connect 33.3 baudrate dial up modem because of crappy phone lines, no dsl availability and no cable availability.)and bought this game expecting it to work?

GPA ditto and don't forget the all "everyone is doing it so it is ok" crowd. Games wouldn't be a bug fest on release if those kinda people didn't accept it... Since so many games are released buggy to the core and unplayable it is OK, hey they'll patch it.... ERRRR I hate that... A game should be playable and solid performance wise from release not months after release...
I Like the game so far, but it's bugs are going to force me to shelve it soon...Hopefully they get a patch out before then.

I like the game, love the combat, and I don't know if it is any better to release a game with a more polished front end - like KotOR 2 or VtM: Bloodlines - that has many 'back end' bugs, or to leave the initial part needing polish ...
... anyway, I'm now 'on the hook' for an official review (initial meaning that GameRankings, GameTab & MetaCritic pick it up for their 'aggregates') ... and so I hope they get a patch I can include in my review, because the mage seems pretty weak compared to fighter, and between the known issues the lack of polish would force me to give a pretty bad score to a game with tons of promise ...
