Installed fine, plays intro fine....Sits at the opening screen forever and does nothing....There is a portcullis there, but no options to select as seen in the manual.

If I wait forever, they will eventually show, but clicking on them seems to do nothing.

I've turned off sound acceleration, does nothing to help. I've tried at multiple resolutions, does nothing to help.

My system is good. NO background apps, drivers up-to-date.

A lot of people with ATI cards have had problems with this game. Using Omega drivers seems to clear up some issues. I personally don't know, I have an Nvidia card, but that seems to be what works for a lot of people on this board.

Omega drivers not helping at all....

problem persists...

ATI selling more cards than any other maker these days....largest % of market share atm...and the better performing cards all around..

don't have issues with other games...

this thing is a pos..going back to store.

shame

I had the same problem, and I have the same card (except I have the AGP version). What I did to fix it was go into the ati control panel and turn FSAA all the way up, and also turn AF all the way. None of the other fixes that were mentioned in the faq worked for me, hope this helps.

I'm in the same boat. I tried doing as above poster stated but I go into the ATI control panel and do not see any of those options. I don't know much about video stuff but what is FSAA and AF? Anyone care to post instructions for dummies on how to change these settings?

This was the first issue I had as well. I have an ATI 9800 128mb card 1g of system ram and the game would hang on the main menu. The mouse would still work and seemed to register clicking as it would change color but still no menu. After hitting random keys to try and get out I noticed the flames flicker.

I found that by pressing down the "print scrn" button you can advance the menu frame by frame. By holding it down you will eventually see the menu appear, then you can start the game. It only takes a couple of seconds and it's a hassle but it gets you into the game and then everything seems fine from there.

The real anoying bit is when you want to reload a saved game. you can only do that from the main menu which means having to hold the stupid "print scrn" down to get the pre-menu animations out of the way. I have a feeling it's whenever the door slides up and down that causes the frame to freeze. When the menu is up, the torches start flickering on their own but when you do something that causes the door to open and close that's when you need to fidget with the key.

Hope this helps, and hope it gets fixed.

Ha yeah that did the trick.

I also was able to enter the game by going into the control panel and in the troubleshooting section move the video acceleration tab a couple of spaces down. My mouse kept flashing though which was annoying. Hitting the print screen though lets me run it normal without this adjustment though.

Thanks. :)
