Ok this is a little complex so I'll try to explain it as best as I can.

PC1 Host -Character 1=C1
PC2 join the game - Character 2=C2

YOu get X far and save it...for some reason you screw up or quest is bugged and you both want to start over with same charcers.

The person who saves the game when going to load a game, their character isn't saved but the other persons is. Ex:PC1 host, PC2 join. Therefor when starting a new game and loading character C2 would be whatever level of the last saved game done by PC1 but C1 would be lvl 1.

The () just let you know why I am doing each step and what is going on.

What to do:
1. PC1 hosting save the origional game (C2 is saved on PC2)
2 PC1 hosts a new game, uses lvl 1 character and PC2 loads their C2. (This allows for PC2 C2 to be saved and have his slate wipped clean)
3 PC1 saves the new game #1 (C2 quests now wiped, and C2 is now saved in the game)
4 PC1 sends a copy of the origional saved game to PC2
5 PC2 hosts the origional game and saves it over the origional game he was sent(now C1 is saved on PC1)
6 PC1 loads the new game #1 (since it's being loaded PC2 C2 will be an option to pick from characters...so he picks his characer, but since PC2 just saved the origional game on his cpu PC1 has C1 saved on the load character)

7 Play and enjoy PC1 has C1 and PC2 has C2 from the origional game but in a brand new game

Hope this helps.

Hmm if I understand you correctly this means the non-host character is saved in the load character area(where you'd create a new one)? I'll have to try this when I get home, that will be great to start character in new gaem :D thanks...

Ok. I am playing the game on my PC with a friend on the LAN. My brother just got the game and another friend would like to play with us too but we won't all be able to play every time. Maybe 2 or 3 of us here and there.

I figure so far I have to stay as the host which is ok. Now if my brother plays the beginning out on his computer could he load that character into the MP? Another option would be to use a L1 version of my guy to help him through the beginning and then load my higher level version savegame and plug in his char???

Or, I know he could just start a new char on my current savegame and we could help him level up fast. But what about quests then. I wish it had character use like Neverwinter Nights where you can have many characters and save them to YOUR PC at any time to use on anyone's MP game or solo.

Are you playing LAN? when I check my wifes machine, she always joins, her load char was level 1, so was mine.

I ran a few tests in MP since I have 3 computers. I host always on mine and my friend always joins on my second PC. We got our characters to L10 on a saved game on my PC. If I start a single player game on the second PC and load the character he uses which displays as a L1 on the character select screen, it loads the L10 version into the New Game on single player. If I do that on my PC, it keeps it as the L1. I then loaded into my LAN game hosted on my main PC and joined with the 3rd PC. It let that PC choose the L10 guy from the second PC!

Then I had a friend host a direct connect game. I joined with my main and 2nd PC. On my main PC it would only load my L1 guy, on the 2nd PC it would load the L10 character. I really don't understand how characters are saved in this game.

The last thing I tried was having a friend host a direct connect game. I loaded in the L1 version of my guy and got him some exp, then we saved the game. Then I had him load the original savegame we first used and it didn't save the exp gained on my end, still loaded a fresh L1.
