Hi
The requirements for BooH are far greater than those required for the original Painkiller :( . Most folks find that turning off Bloom and Coronas helps speed the game up considerably.

if thats the case thats pretty funny..my cpu can run doom 3 and hlaf life 2 well but not BOOH rofl..but anyway..

Thatīs funny if Doom 3 runs smoothly but BooH is slomo.
What video settings are you using in Doom 3? (Low, Medium or High quality)(640 x 480, 800 x 600, 1024 x 768, 1280 x 1024 or 1600 x 1200)
In Doom 3, you can see this by clicking "Options" on the main menu and then click "System" in the submenu that appears.
In Painkiller, click "Options", then choose "Video" and see what settings you are using.
If you want the expansion to play normally, you should turn off "Coronas", "Dynamic Lighting" and "Bloom". If you still get common slowdowns, turning off "Warp" and "Player Shadows" would help alot.
I think these settings are in "Advanced Video Options", itīs a tab you can click in the "Video" menu.
I hope this helps you.
Btw, itīd help if youīd tell us what processor, video card, memory etc. your computer has. :)

its working fine now.
and for the record i run both doom 3 and half life 2 on medum settings....and farcry on high

Medium settings? That means you have a video card with 128 Mbs of video memory if Iīm not mistaken. I think BooH needs fast video card rather than a video card with lots of memory. So BooH probably has similar requirements as Doom 3 and HalfLife 2.
So you should turn off the settings I mentioned above.
What brand of video card are you using btw? ATi Radeon series? nVidia GeforceFX series or other brand?
Iīm glad it works for you now. :)
Darkstalker

nVidia GeforceFX 5200
hl2 and doom 3 work good on high..i just sacrifice grahics for absolutly no slow dawn and skippage
also weird is that halo is kinda slow (but still very playable) ..its not as bad on low setting thou
i have by no means a fast cpu..but hey i bought my cpu for liike 500 dollars (includes wirless internet eqitment and and burners aand stuff).
i have like 512 megs of ram and 1.59 ghz with the pentium 4 1.60 ghz and im happy with it (for the most part) with what i have..not saying that an update wouldnt be nice thou

I find it hard to believe you run Doom 3 on medium with that awful video card. (not to mention the processor)
Maybe youīre just lucky. :p

It's amazing what will run on some computers - I used to run Windows for Workgroups on an Amstrad PC, that had a 12MHz CPU (yes, that's mhz!), a 40MB hard drive (again - yes MB), and ONE MB RAM. It never ceased to amaze me ;)

Yeah, like Windows XP runs on my friendīs computer without hitching and heīs playing alot of games. The computer has 64 Mbs of memory.
WinXP can run but usually hitches badly.

All I had to do was step my resolution down from 12x10 to 10x7 to get BooH to run smoothly (P4 2.53, 1 gig dual channel DDR, Ti4200 128mb 8x AGP w/Omega KX 1.4403 drivers, Audigy 1 (see below) - no bloom or character shadows, everything else on high).
I sometimes wonder if some of the people w/lag problems are running on-board sound, rather than a gaming sound-card. Would'nt that suck processor time away from the game?
I did learn long ago that, when it comes to comparing 'puter performance, your mileage may vary...

Thatīs correct, onboard sound delivers the audio encoding/decoding job to the CPU I think which takes away some speed.
Iīm using SB Live! 5.1, itīs getting 4 years old, but Iīm not getting another one until it plays itīs last sound. ;)

yeah with games like doom and half life i put it on lower setting on some things just so i get zero lag
my cpu just seems to run games well..just because

my cpu just seems to run games well..just because
...because the CPU doesnīt matter much performance-wise. ;)
Video card generates the performance, but CPU generates some power for performance but the rest to power up the hardware and process their jobs.
I think...Iīm not expert.
(but I do know FX 5200 is the worst that nVidia have ever made, as far as I know)

From the For What It's Worth dep't. - I used a Live card, and was happy with it. Then a friend gave me his old A-1 (the card I have now). Oh boy. If you ever watch movies on your system, BUY ONE! Especially if you have good surround speakers.
I put a A-2 ZS in my fiance's machine - she agreed to marry me again, and she just uses headphones.

How old is it as a brand nowdays?
If SB Audigy series is newer, thatīll be my next brand.
I need more than clear sounds. I need bass and power, which the subwoofer matters 90%, the sound card makes sure how the audio is handled. :)

The Audigy2 is essentially a hopped-up Live! card (24-bit vs. 16-bit, 108dB SNR, etc. etc. etc.) link - http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=1&subcategory=204&product=9107. This is the card I put in Jan's machine, minus the breakout panel. That's in mine, and it's nice to have.
I kinda hate to sound like a fanboi, but I really think it's money well spent.

CPU is "Computer Processing Unit" I think. Itīs a sort of boss that says what each hardware should do, ie. a processor.
Your whole computer is alittle in the lower specs, but it should be enough for a year if you lower video settings. :)

Close - it's central processing unit. Good description of it's function, tho.

my cpu should last a while (for the year at least) i am going to buy guild wars and my cpu should run that well (so says the system specs)
just ushally FPS's have higher system requirments

Remember that the posted 'minimum spec' for most games describes a system that will run the game, but not with all the toys turned on...

From my knowledge, your computer is already starting to hitch on low/medium settings in the newest games. 1.6 Ghz, specially Pentium, is not a good processor by todayīs standards. Nor is the worst card nVidia ever made, FX 5200.
Just look at the box of the games you wanīt to buy and look at the recommended requirements. Minimum is foolish to follow, it displays what you need to be able to run the game at all, itīll most likely be unplayable, even on lower settings.
You should upgrade soon, in shorter words. :p

hey..whats wrong with the fx 5200 espicvally for 50 bucks (can)
better than tyhe voodo 3 i had before
Bjossi

It sure is better than Voodoo, but it sucks even for $50. ;)
I donīt understand why nVidia sent that out, itīs like an uncomplete version of FX 5700, which is 4x better than FX 5200, even LE version.
And it costed $150 a year ago, not sure what it costs now.

I have a Dell 4300
512mb PC-133
1.6ghz
Modded 9700 Pro, Zalman HS+Fan
Etc
Tweaked the PC to ****
And i play Doom 3,ROE, on high all.
above 25fps, decency.
I free memory before i play a game, and delete processes that aren't needed.

I assume this is a laptop, 9700 Pro is very common in Dell laptops.
But you are getting the FPS the 9700 can do I think. :)

It has to be a desktop - he couldn't get that Zalman cooler into a laptop...http://www.zalman.co.kr/eng/product/code_list.asp?code=013

I donīt know anything about the brands of coolers, so Iīll go with your oppinion. :)
If itīs a desktop computer, heīs luckier than me about FPS on high quality. (I use 800 x 600 to get above 30 FPS average).

I have the 2nd edition Zalman cooler..
The new one, is longer, and has two Heatpipes,
Probably costs more too..
But meh, i like mine.
