I think we all get the idea here and I'm afraid the idea may become the norm if the game gets anymore negative press. Give them a chance to fix a few things.

The auto-map feature will be added in a future update.

Funny but I did not get a map in my box but as an added bonus they did give me 2 cd 2's. :(
Also, yes, I tried to exchange my copy for another one, EB will not do it as my copy is not defective just missing a 'non-critical' item as they termed it.

I have a hard time believing that EB will not take the game back if it is missing a map. It's basic customer service that if the customer just bought something, has the reciept, just take it back. It's no loss to them.
If they truly will not give you a replacement game I would have the manager fired on the spot.

'Fired on the spot'
You're kidding right?
I've tried both local EB's in my town and neither one will take back or swap out merchandise unless the product is defective and the game is not considered defective by EB just because it is missing the map. Lots of companies like EB will not take back opened merchandise.

nope, not kidding. And i'm talking about exchanging, not taking back for a refund.
I assume that the person there refusing you the exchange is not the manager? I would then talk to the manager and demand that they replace my game with another, due to missing materials. It's not up to them to decide how important a missing reference card or map is to a paying customer. Also, it's not like you could possibly be ripping them off as there is no cd-key to steal per-se, and no incentive to do so as you are gaining no money by doing this.
If they honestly truly will not give you a replacement at that point, I would calmly state that you will never buy a game from them again
and then kick the guy so hard his colon falls out.

I'm in the same boat as dantivirus. I also got 2 Disc Twos and no map. EB also won't allow me to return/exchange my copy either.
I'm getting by just fine without a map. I've only been lost once and that was right at the start of the game. Once I found my way back to the camp fire I made mental notes of terran I could use as landmarks in relation to the camp fire. Using landmarks has worked out well for me. I have a level 27 character had haven't been lost since I first started.

Yep, was the manager as well as the area manager, both said the same thing.
As to the kick to the colon, I rather not have an assault charge brought against me.
Also it was asking for an exchange, not a refund. EB flatly refuses to do so. So unless I can find a map online, I'm pretty much S.O.L.

I don't use online vendors, no matter how secure they seem or say they are, I always seem to be the one who gets toasted.

Can't figure out how to change the situation?
Hmmm let me see, I've spoken with 6 employees at two different stores, 2 store assistant managers, 2 store managers, 1 area manager, and I am expecting a call back from the region manager. Up to this point the answer has been a flat NO. I guess they're still ticked at takeover recently. So besides getting a felony conviction and a cellmate name Popeye, what more do you sugguest I do to change the situation? I mean with all you infinite wisdom, you should be able to come up with a solution, right? I mean unless a felony conviction and Popeye are what you thought up, in that case, I'll send him right over to your place where I'm sure you will bring him hours and hours of 'special' entertainment.

Actually, try to cultivate a good relationship with the store manager and you're more likely to have better luck. The EB here has a great manager and he's easy to work with -but we talk to him every time we go in about games, books, etc.
Your grandma was right about catching more flies with honey than vinegar;)
Reading further in the thread: take it back as defective (defective is a subjective term: 2 of the same disk and no map would qualify -lol).

Actually I've been a customer since they both opened. Which just irks me even more that they won't exchange. :(

Thanks for the map.:)
Now that I've seen the game-world I have to wonder how anyone could get lost. I was expecting wide open areas like in Morrowind an not a bunch of paths that only leads in 2 directions. Heh, no wonder I've yet to get myself lost.

You've probably already considered this, but did you pay for the game with a credit card? If so, you can contact them and dispute the charge.
90% of my purchases are made on CCs even if I have the cash on hand, just to have this protection. In this case, though, I bought Dungeon Lords using a gift card that I'd gotten the day before. Oops.

2 CD 2's and no map...
Thats what i got.. but thats not to bad..
Bought a MMO a few years back.. was on 3 CD's and all i got was 2x CD 1 and 1x CD 3...
THAT really sucked! :D
But considering there are no ingame automap, i whould appreciate if anyone knows of any place that has town maps, and some of the dungeon maps with compass markings as i asked another post..
Even rough ones without the room details or names, just the basic's whould be alot of help!

could somebody with a map scan it into the computer and post it up somewhere so that i could download a copy of it?

Do a search, someone posted a map that you can find in your \Dungeon Lords\terrmap Directory, or better yet print it off your PC. The one the person posted was labeled though.

This solution is guaranteed to work with ANY retailer:
1. Call the store and explain your issue, if no satisfaction, speak with Manager. BE NICE the whole time - extremely nice.
2. If no satisfaction, KINDLY explain that your request is reasonable, and they WILL give you an exchange at some point along the way - it's just a matter of how far you have to go.
3. Find out what store is busiest, and what day and time they are busiest. Tell the manager of that store that they may want to be there at that time because you are going to put on a show.
4. Explain that you will wait until the store is very busy, then get in line so that customers are behind you in line. You will then ask in increasing volumes why they won't exchange this item you bought here even though you have a receipt. Keep asking over and over again raising your voice each time.
At some point the manager will do anything to get you to leave. When finally they relent instantly stop, smile and softly say "thank you".
Before you go to the store, explain that this is what will happen. They will agree over the phone to avoid this, and your exchange will be waiting for you at the store when you arrive.
