How do I get to the forbidden lands?

Im at Skulldoon and there are 2 guards that wont let me through the door to the forbidden lands, what am I suposed to do?

You need to talk to the Mayor dude of Skulldoon.

He is in vortagg's fortress. You need to talk to the guy at the barred window. Tell him you want to see the leader guy and he should open the gates to let you upstairs.

Can't remember the directions of the compass but these might help.

From the weapon shop follow the road away from the fargrove side gate of skuldoon. You should pass a few small buildings. Then the big building with fortress looking walls (wood though not stone) that should be it.

Also there is one other building like his and thats the areana where you can buy a ticket and fight things.

ya i found the building and talked to the guy behind the bar window and the text doesnt come up where i can ask to see the mayor,i have only done up to the aridrin part of the main quest if that matters at all,im not sure if it does or not but i already did teh mystry guild part so im now a hunter but have the quest to get a picture from forbidden lands,the guy at the window also tells me to go to forbidden lands but cant seem to be able to talk to mayor,maybe its a bug or im missing something,if anyone can help that would be great

You have to complete the story line to get there.

In the harrow ruins is where you meet the the npc that enables you to tell the guy you want to see the mayor. The npc's name is mara and is near the celestial shrine in the harrowed ruins (or whatever its called on the way to skulldon).

And she only comes I think due to furthering the story line.

And she only comes I think due to furthering the story line.

I'm trying to do this same quest. I went to the Harrow Ruins, but there is no one anywhere near it.

Are all the quests in this game so convoluted? First, how are you supposed to know you need to see the mayor in the first place, then how are you supposed to know to go out in the middle of nowhere to find a NPC who will let you talk to the mayor?

Same problem .... sent me to Forbidden Lands ... i travel to Skuldoon .. there closed, ok i finish Rogue quest to deliver map. Now .. here read some in Harrow .. ok i dont hear before in game .. but may be mistaken .. travel there ... shrine i found .. lot of monsters .... one treasure chest ok .. but NPC no :(

Now i thing must return to Fargrove to respeak all NPC .... but ... in Skuldoon i can't find Moonbridge ... isn't there ? Or were is near ... it is long way ....

To Gain entrance into the forbidden lands:


Talk to the girl at the in in Fargove, go through all the dialogue options. She should tell you to travel to the Bolen Fields and talk to Lord blahblahblah.

Lord Blahblahblah will tell you to go back and talk to the girl at the Inn and give here a pass code.

The girl will tell you she's waiting for a messenger with news and to come back later. I don't know how long you have to wait.

When you go back she will tell you to meet a woman named Mara at the Harrow Ruins.

Find Mara and talk to her. She will give you a letter that will gain you an audience with Varguth(sp?) in Skuldoon. You have to agree to do as he asks and he'll tell his guards to allow you access to the forbidden land and how to find Lord Blahblahblah's son.

i'm stuck in this same spot, and i believe i may have finally figured out where i went wrong. I had retrieved the armour went and spoke with the wizard and then went to skudoon like most ppl and found out that you can't get through. I totally forgot about rescueing the 'son' so i went back and found him in the Ulm castle. I then went back to the 'potion shop' in arindale to talk with the mother. This is now where i'm at in the game, and i haven't been told to go anywhere except by the wizard in arindale (which is to seek out the artifacts). I believe now i'm going to the fargrove inn to talk with someone there as most posting are leading to.

Now that I think about it, I think Ellowyn's chambermaid started this quest as well, telling where to find Lord Greamere. But the rest is right.

Without the guard there, the door wont open, but I figured out that if you jump around on the pikes leaning against the wall, you can work your way up and jump right over the wall, it works going either direction.
I suppose you could do this for the Warwitch or rogue quest before you've advanced the story line, but I wouldnt reccomend it, there is some nasty stuff out there.

I was standing at that gate and some giant killer bees flew over the wall. I killed all I could see and the guard was fighting them too. On the other side of the wall there were more bees (you could hear them), but they woudn't fly over the wall, so the guard just stood there facing into the wall, stuck, trying to get to them, and you couldn't talk to him, so you would be out of luck getting him to open the gate. So it's a good idea to stay away from that wall until you are ready to have him open it.

I talked to the girl i Fargorve Inn and she does mention something about lord blablablah. But she doesn't say to go and talk to the guy, only that he actually exists. Should I go and find this Lord? Where exactly is he in Boleun Fields?

Take west exit from Fargrove, stay on the path until the crossroads, take north path and stay on until another crossroads, take the western path and once it ends keep going north.

The girl in the inn will tell you about Mara after you have spoken to Emmindor. You can't talk to Emmindor until you have completed the Hall of Lords quest and the Fathien stronghold quest. In fact, I got locked out of Fargrove when I had all of this done but hadn't yet figured out how to get in to see Emmindor.

So u are saying i have to talk to the girl in the inn to have her tell me to meet a girl named MARA then i can find MARA at the harrow ruins..cos i have been circling at harrow ruins and NO MARA...not even a MARIA.... :)
