Most of you know this room, you enter and there are four pillars that drop down into the acid then start going up and down in random sequence. BUT, the first time the pillars come up they always come up in the order you need them. If you happen to fail the first time across all you need to do to reset the room is exit back to the room with the glyph pillars (its basically two shadow gates back you have to go, the reason I choose the pillar room is the other gate in the Lord's room leads to the room with 8 gates one which randomly brings you back to the center. After you exit back through two gates return to the acid room and they pillars should be back to go. Remember not to immediately jump on the first one. Let them all go down and then start coming back up in sequence. I exited and entered about 20 times and each time I went back 2 gates and returned I was able to cross on the first rising of the pillars.

Thank you so much for this post. You don't know how frustrated I was trying it over and over again.

Thank you for this post but unfortunately I can't even get close to being able to jump across even with resetting the room and am afraid I won't be able to continue playing at all unless I can cross this area.
Here's the problem:
1) My mouse controls turning which is needed to turn slightly towards the next platform
2) My arrow key controls running forward which is needed to perform the jump
3) My space bar controls jumping
That's 3 different things to control but only 2 hands (and 1 slow brain) to control them. I am not nearly dextrous enough to be able to make the jumps within the brief timing provided. I could remap the two keys to something closer together but the fact remains that I am not dextrous enough to make the jumps. So far the best I have done is made it to the 2nd of the 4 platforms and not even close on my next jump to the 3rd.
Does anyone have any advice for me on this?
Thanks in advance.

Please consider using the W key for forward motion and then use your thumb for the space bar, Index finger on W, thumb for jump. I can see already that you are going to have a GREAT time in the room with the floating crystal.

NFLed: I had the same problem. My brain just would not process the "w" key thing (killed me on "Return of the King" too lol).
My solution: I let my kid do it lol!:)

Lol, actually I tried having my wife press jump but the timing was off. I tried the w key and it worked fine on the 2nd try, thank you for the pointer. If I can do it then just about anyone can!

This has been posted before but easily missed because it's so far down the list. Before entering the pillar room with acid, map your time warp spell (slows down everything) to any number key 1-8. Enter the room and quickly hit your time warp key. I made it across the columns the second try!

Another thing to consider is using the Insert key on your numpad (if you're already used to using the arrow keys). This will allow you to maneuver direction and jump with the same hand, keeping your second hand completely free for the mouse.
Slowing time certainly wouldn't hurt matters either.

That room is a pain. I wish I could put jump on my mouse. By the way, where do you get this time warp spell?

it drops off several monsters or you can buy it in the celestial building in Arindale.
