Im not a mage or anything but I was just curious,
How does the magic system work in this game?
I noticed you can pick up tombs or buy them. and scrolls. I get that much. what I really want to know is how the nether magic stuff works.

I have a limited knowledge and I haven't really used Arcane or Rune magic yet.
Celestial uses mana. If you look at each spell it should tell you how many charges you'll have.
Nether magic uses Katals (spells) and reagents, but doesn't use mana, meaning you can constantly cast them as long as you have reagents and charges in your Katals. You can buy both reagents and Katals at an Apothocary. If you go to your Nether Spell tab in your Equipment menu, and highlight the spell you can see what reagents it requires.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I've been doing so far.

Extra Hint: the more points you place on your magic skills then the further you will be able to cast them and more effective;)

Well first, I dont know what the in the name of all things holy "reagents" are or where to find them. Secondly, You say that theres spells in the nether tab? All I see is a bunch of boxes where you place the katals.

All magic requires a minimum skill level to cast it. For example, an Arcane Fireball spell is a level 4. You need to raise your Arcane skill high enough to cast the spell on your own. If your skill is not high enough, the spell will fail.
Or you can use a Scroll, which doesn't need any skill to cast, but it is consumed by casting. You buy scrolls from magic merchants or find scrolls in chests or dropped by monsters.
The Shaman in Skuldoon can sell the recipes for nether spells, as well as the ingredients ("reagents") for mixing together to create the spell. A recipe looks like a "cross bones" thing with a circle in the center. Hold your mouse over the recipe item to display the list of ingredients.
When you find a rare ingredient, like a Dried Homunculous, don't use it. Instead, sell it to the Shaman or to an Apothecary. Then you can buy as many copies of it that you want. The merchant will never run out of supply.
Celestial Crystals have a charge count. Each time you acquire a particular kind of crystal, the charge count is increased. You can buy Celestial Crystals at temples or find them in treasure chests or some monsters will drop them (bladewitch usually).
Goblin Mage and Warlock usually drop Arcane or Nether spell tomes, and sometimes scrolls.
Rune Magic uses a Rune Medallion and a set of Rune Stones that supply the magic energy. The more Rune Stones you have, the more magic energy you have for casting the Rune magic. A "Rune" spell affects your character. A "Boon" spell affects your character and your team (multiplayer mode only). So, "Rune Blade" will enchant only your blade and "Boon Blade" will enchant the blades of your entire team. (You must already have a bladed weapon readied before casting.) Rune Magic is great for multiplayer gaming.
The "Channel" skill improves your recharge time for Celestial and Rune magic.
The "Scribe" skill improves your recharge time for Arcane magic.
The "Alchemy" skill increases the number of nether katals that your find in the wild (by increasing the number of katal-dropping beasts that appear in random encounters). Channel, Scribe, and Alchemy cannot increase higher than their base skills of (Celestial,Rune), Arcane, and Nether. So, you must increase the base skills before you can increase the recharge skills.
