Painkiller Xbox - Name Suggestions Wanted!

As I mentioned here the other week, we're now busy working on the Xbox version for Painkiller. It will likely be a blend of the original Painkiller and Painkiller: Battle Out of **** with some extra cool single player levels plus some unique multiplayer maps.

What we're now looking for is a cool name to call the Xbox version - an example would be that the Xbox version of Far Cry is going to be called Far Cry: Instincts. So it will be Painkiller: XYZ - i.e. some cool name.

We have a few in mind, but we want to see what you've got!

Do you have any great ideas? If you do, post them below. If we choose your name, I'll send you some cool stuff (including the Xbox game when it ships) and I'll also put your name in the Xbox credits.

Why not just Painkiller?

If you're searching for a little phrase to add, like the original Painkiller was "Heaven's got a hitman"...

You could try adding something like "Demons do die" or "H*ell does fall", if you don't want to add something so similar together, try something like "What happens when heaven can't fight?" or "Heaven is watching".

Don't add another name to the name, like other people are suggesting. It's a little pointless, having a name like " Painkiller: Blood Judgment " (no offense to you at all) is just like saying " Painkiller: Painkiller ".

Simple yet interesting, why bother adding a phrase or something similar? Most of the time they are really corny.
But if you really want one so badly then you should try Painkiller: Hell to Pay. I remember it was being used in another game that blew horribly, but they didn't bother.

I'm with the 'just call it Painkiller' gang. The advantage of the original tagline 'Heaven's got a hitman' is that it wasn't an integral part of the title. If you go and add something...well anything like the suffixes stated here, you're going to end up with a lot of groans.*

It's a fast and simple FPS - you see demon, you shoot demon. It doesn't even have anything as complicated as a blue-yellow-red keycard system in it. If it were an intricate RPG with a weaving, twisting plotline spanning epic worlds, then it may justify something along the lines of...ooh, 'Baiten Kaitos: Something Something Something Lost Ocean', but Painkiller isn't that. It's just Painkiller.

* That's not to insult you guys, as to be honest I don't think it's really possible to come up with a name that wouldn't be groan-worthy**. The best is probably 'Painkiller: Adrenaline', and in my opinion the name is still better without it. :)

** On that note, I'd be curious to see what DC/PCF (whoever makes it) has actually come up with. :)

I dunno - I was considering this a little while ago, and I suspect that it's probably easier for someone -who already owns PK- to buy the X-Box copy if they can convince themselves its even a little different. The most logical way to make 'em think like that is to change the name, if even only slightly. :)

I agree 100%. Why confuse new players with these strange names? Also, XBox version is identical to the PC one (I think), so it´d basicly just be a selling trick to use a new phrase.

Not to correct you again or anything, but it's going to be different in a couple of ways. It's sort of like a director's cut, where levels are taken from the original Painkiller and levels from the new expansion pack, and a couple of new levels, plus a new weapon and maybe new monsters. So yeah, I think it's gonna be pretty different, and warrants a new title.

Some of you should definitely consider careers in marketing, if you haven’t already… on the other hand, some of you should definitely be locked up :rolleyes: .

The game is coming along well and will release this Christmas. The latest that I have heard is that the game will feature up to 5 brand new single player levels and 2 new weapons – yeah :)!
