Hi. I've just started playing Dungeon Lords and I'm thinking about my hero. Would you be so kind and tell me what profession is the most powerfull one? I'm thinking about a mage or some kind of ranger (fighter who uses rather only bows). Could you tell me a little bit about these classes and/or tell me your propositions for running such character? What skills should I start with, what should I do during game?
Thx for help

I don't want to create "just" a fighter - I think it's too stupid profession... Could anyone help me with good mage and ranger template?

Personally I feel being a fighter and choosing mage as a secondary is the strongest if your looking for the most effective combination, however there will be no pick locking bonus/ranged bonus and of course different special items for quests done.
Each character/class specialization will change the storey line and items you are able to recieve, so you could play this combination, then try a completely different one and get other quests and items.
Playing the strongest combination does not always make the game more fun, so if you try this combination first, try something completely different the second/third time around.

class selection is based on your basic classes, and how you can advance those.
Tier 1
Mage
Thief
Tier 2
Hunter<requires thief class+guild of mystery quests>
2nd class of your choice
Tier 3
Ranger lord<requires hunter/guild of mystery quests>
Thrown weapons/archery seems a bit low on the damage front it appears. Its hard to say,as there are to many bugs to really give an accurate description of how to build what your asking for.
ive played through a few class types now, basically because the game still needs to be patched to fix alot of problems. so i have spent my time running around seeing what class combos work.
to get certain tier 2 and tier 3 classes, you have to have the right Tier 1 class, and join the proper guild.
IE: tier 1 thief -----> tier 2 hunter/trickster -----> tier 3 ranger lord
Requires: thief tier 1 class, and joining guild of mystery.
the house of the dragon/tiger gives the Japanese style classes,ie samurai/hatamoto/monk. its also based similar to what is listed above.

You select your initial class at character creation what you decide to select as a secondary class is dependant on the quests you choose to accept when you first chat with the guild leaders in fargrove, I have chosen fighter/mage with a good few points in lock picking and trap disarming, this seems to be the best alrounder imo although I would have much prefered pure mage with perhaps celestial magic as well, but I dont find the spell replenishment fast enough for my liking. As it is now my char can go toe to toe with a war troll with no real difficulty, I use my spells when there are just to many mobs around to thin the herd a bit or at least weaken em enough so a good couple of combo's starts to show some results.
If you want mage as your 2nd choice go speak to the mage in fardale and accept the quest to deliver the staff to the nice wiccan lady who live in the swamp ;)

so it has nothing to do with creating a character before starting the game for the first time.
