Can you believe it!

I was appalled by the state of the Demo and shocked by the reality of the Retail Version, yet here I am excited by the fact that each patch brings the game closer to what I hoped it always would be. Now I read that the 1.2 patch is to implement the most basic features already included in the manual and pre-release hype, namely an automap and character customisation, and all I can do is to think "YEAH!" Brilliant game!

Hmm. D.W.B. and his team certainly knew what I wanted to play. I fervently hope that DreamCatcher can allow them to deliver on the back of the post-release financial boost.

Go for it guys! Read the boards, take the hints and believe in your product. There is a patch out there waiting to make this game a true classic and one capable of restoring the faith of the downhearted.

Patch away and take pride in a job well done guys!

Where is it stated about a 1.2 patch release?

Also, when is this slated to be out? With character appearance customization coming in, I'll be ready to start playing. I'm excited...

I feel the same way. This game has great potential. For whatever reason it was released in the state it was I cannot say, but it definitely is a concept that I've been waiting for. I've always felt that someone needed to make a game like Morrowind but multiplayer...Bethesda might want to listen up to the world around them...anyway, just had to make that comment.

I maybe a bit frustrated and all with the state the game is in, but I would rather bless Dreamcatcher and HP then curse them. I've been guilty of throwing some negative talk their way so I'd like to clear the air so to speak and send a message out there that is positive. Go for it guys, you have a great product really, just get those bugs out of it as soon as you can :)

I'm glad to see that Dreamcatcher continues to support their products after release. By supporting their products in such a way, this company stands out above other producers who abandon their post-release games. Because of this, I will continue to purchase from Dreamcatcher in the future.

Next week sometime... read the letter at the top of the thread.

They're keeping my hopes alive!

The state of the character customization thats coming worries me. I want it alot, but in that letter they said "the ability to customize your characters to a greater degree." Now, that sounds like they are adding it, but the wording sounds fishy, I doubt the total cosumization that we thought we would get will come in this patch.

heh, yay i can pick my hair color and such, nearly all of which will be hidden within an hour or so of starting by whatever armor i'm wearing. (: it never bothered me in the least that race and gender were my only choices.

but mapping, now that's a big one. i'm almost disappointed that i'll have a much better idea where i am in the game. i spent quite a lot of time and effort making ugly, screwed up maps by hand. how dare you guys, making all that work obsolete. (:

"heh, yay i can pick my hair color and such, nearly all of which will be hidden within an hour or so of starting by whatever armor i'm wearing. (: it never bothered me in the least that race and gender were my only choices. "

Lol, I couldn't agree more. I won't ever understand why this was a big issue to some. Similar to most of the other issues such as in game music which detracts from my immersion in any crpg as I never imagine music if I were to ever adventure through a dungeon unless that dungeon has a sophisticated system of surround sound.

I'll bet anything that they didn't realize how much negative backlash there would be simply due to something being in the manual and perhaps on an in-game graphic but not actually in the game. I certainly wouldn't think that criticism would be due to this issue alone as I look at what is in a game and not what is in the manual but not in the game. If they realized how much backlash there would be I wonder if they would have spent an extra couple of weeks before release just removing that extraneous stuff (or if removing it was an option at that point).

Removing it from the box, manual, and game would have been the professional thing to do, but removing the vestiges of any missing features from the game itself would ahve been the 'bare minimum' expected of a paid developer who writes code for a living. It is common practice (and common sense) to clean up one's 'under construction' mess before releasing a non-beta product.

I agree that char customization is low on the totem pole as far as what they should repair first because I play primarily single player and could care less how I look; however, you have to admit that it is NOT just a vanity or 'icing on the cake' issue in terms of practical muliplayer functionality. In other words, if you want to go adventuring with a 'tribe' of eight male Thrall at a LAN party, you will all look exactly alike and this will, IMHO, be quite confusing since people change armor and weapons all the time (i.e. it would be hard to memorize who's using what to keep people straight)...also, this game supplies penalties for carrying certain weapons/armor, so it is entirely possible that it would be to a character's advantage (for a good chunk of the game) not to wear armor, especially if that character is specialized in skills other than armor/weapons. As a result, you would constantly be staring at several characters that are all the same and very hard to keep straight.

Well here's one small candle flame of hope to see maybe the problem of gohst towns being fixed, just add a few roamers maybe some children and maybe a few animals who do not attack you, like some dogs or cats or somthing, maybe some furniture in buildings and some people in them too, oh and please fix the gamma in alot of these areas or atleast give us a torch or light spell, in fargrove, its a town, but even at 12pm it looks like its the middle of the night, let the sun shine a little like it does in the fields, even skuldoon has some sunshine

oh an dit would be nice to be able to use unarmed combat like ninjitsu

not bashing the game or the devs in any way, this game has a ton of potential, if only the bugs could be addressed as well as the missing content

I enjoyed the game greatly. Most fun with a game I have had since KotR (the first one, KotRII was a little disappointing to me). The missing things in the game never bothered me overly much. Sure the game was a little loose, with missing features and bugs...I would of expected a game to be tighter on release.

No auto-map became rather refreshing after the initial shock. Truly, I began to enjoy having to remember the shape of the land or a rock formation...the dungeons got rather tough though. As for the character appearance, well I would rather have it as an option than not. Even without it the game was fun for me from beginning to end. I have played plenty of good games that would lose my interest before the end. Nothing worse than reaching the end of a game with "God, please let this be the last fight" on your mind. DL didnt have that effect, which make it a very good game in my book.

I'll replay once the appearance patch in added...maybe go Rogue'ish/Mage or something.
