Techniques for fighting drakes?

Any ideas that might be helpful to a lvl 10 knight? I've tried three times but so far I haven't caused any damage to a drake even gulping heal potions. What have you done to kill these guys?

You have to kill one? Me, I just run when I see one of those...though you might be able to kill one with like 500 throws of a poisoned dagger.

Easiest way - get a ice-axe, once drake freezes the fight is pretty much over.

i was on lvl7 the first time i did take a drake D;
but use a bow.

i just sidestep left then right keeping out the flameing breath range hitting it with bow/thrown weapon, and any non-fire magic. The side stepping at this range makes the fireburst like attack the drake has miss most of the time.

Celestial fireshield helps a ton. Invest in just enough of that type magic to use it. Especially with the number of tough things that shoot fire at you.

Just run around them and keep shooting with magic or smackin em with a weapon.

Like left arrow plus foreward while turning the mouse. to get the best speed running around them. Circle strafe.. Try not to side roll since that doesnt move you far enough, fast enough to avoid the fireball blasts.

They dont help kill so much as being another target for the drake to shoot at. One you can run away from before the fireball explodes on them and the splash damage gets you.

If you got a mage the ice spells work real nice so long as you have enough of them. It freezes it in place a second or two and it cant attack you at all so long as you keep casting. Poison cloud+Ice shards/iceball+locust swarm is a good combo. Continuing damage plus immobility with damage.

And always... lots of heal potions :D

Managed it 4 times now. They are tough battles.

where do i find a drake im trying to finish the dragon quest but im haveing no luck finding a drake

I found a "sweet spot" behind a tree, and as the drake floated there breathing fire on it, I just stood there and pumped arrow after arrow into it. Took me about 20 minutes, but he went down. Love to nearly 400K xp for that!
To get the egg, I just ran like **** through there and snatched it from the nest.

the eggs are only in the nests in the dead end area on the south western edge of lost lake. to the west (behind) arindale. Careful. theres at least 4 of them in there i saw. fighting 4 at once would be suicide :)

drakes themselves seem to spawn everywhere in the south east part of the world. black swamp, forbiddin lands, near skuldoon, sagathian moors.
