Heavy weapons problem

My lvl 12 Urgoth Fighter cannot get heavy weapons skills. He has level 8 in both light and medium weapons and a 51 strength. The literature states they can use heavy weapons with ease but with so much else in the literature being so very reliable, who knows.

You need a tier 2 class to be able to wield a heavy weapon, as with armour I believe. At least my fighter mage couldnt until he attained battlemage/knight

Yeah, you need to be a teir 2 or 3 class in order to make use of Heavy Weapons, Heavy Polearms, Heavy Armor, and Heavy Shields.

From what I've played I know the following can use Heavy Weapons:

Tier 2
Knight
Paladin

Now according to the book these can as well:

Tier 2
Monk
Valkyrie

Tier 3
Hatamoto
Warlord
