Life and peace? They are not listed under Celestial magic in the DL section.

The Life crystal I believe is basically the story behind the 'R'evive option. When you talk to Celestine (or Augustus?) about the crystal the say it will save you at the expense of what you earned in the past..most likely she's talking about the adv points and attribute drop when pressing 'R'.
I'm not sure what the peace crystal is for...but I have 2 guesses...Either it increases your healing/regeneration or decreases the probablity of a monster encounter (like in Ancient Domains of Mystery, scolls of peace decreased monster spawning time)

Haven't played the game since the week after it came out, so I don't remember the spell names exactly. However, I believe peace is the celestial magic spell that caused monsters to stop attacking for a period of time, or until they get hit which breaks the spell.
It is especially useful if you have a couple big critters attacking you, cast the spell on one so it ignores you for the duration of the spell, switch to the other critter.
Again, this is assuming it's the spell I'm remembering.

Yes it is. It is called "Pacify" in the manual.
