I really was hesitant to get this game, considering some of the reviews, but since I only play RPG's I was desperate for something new.
What a surprise! This has got to be one of the most addictive dungeon crawls I have played in years. Not since 1987 and "FTL Dungeon Master" have I spent more uninterrupted time in a game world.
Was the game released prematurely? You bet it was! And how sad, really, because underneath that incompleteness is one really fun hack and slash RPG. Talk about diamond in the rough - boy this is it. D.W. Bradley and team you came so, so close!!!
It is hard for me to read some of the negative reviews. Maybe its just my age or the fact that I've played RPG's for so long, but as I play I can see the vision that was, and maybe still could be, Dungeonlords. I only hope that one mistake, albeit a pretty big mistake, can still be redeemed. I would really hate to see it become the death blow for games like this one.
All I really know is that one silly old man found some real enjoyment escaping into a fantasy world called Dungeonlords. And so for what ever its worth, thank you Heuristic Park.

I feel pretty much the same way..
It has lots of probolems, But the core of the game.. the core concept...is excellent.
I hope they have the opportunity (and dreamcatcher has the sense, since they are the publisher and a lot of the time publishers are just looking for a fast buck) to finish it out.

I agree as well. I too was desperate for a new RPG and I watched Dungeon Lords like a hawk for a year before it was released. The game certainly is addictive and a lot of fun despite the problems. I just wish they could've taken all the time they needed to get it finished.
By the way welcome to the forum daniel and Spellcast. :D

I have to agree that this game is a contribution to computer gaming. I can appreciate why that is hard to see. Fact is good rpg's are "hard work" in one form or another, and not always fun. No maps, being lost, not sure what to do, can all be the price to play. It makes me optimistic that people are coming out the other side; i.e., some people have completed the game. That gives me hope. I expect each day for this game to become unplayable, but so far it has not. I am a wizardry expert and have the binders of maps to prove it, and wizardry games are always hard. From what I can tell, this is a classic wizardry game. I use to quit playing for months at a time, swearing I would not come back, and always did. And there have been glitches; but often the glitch is the player and not the game. They are the best games I have ever played by far, and when you factor money spend for hours played, it is a good bargin. My guess is they found some things that were crashing the game and took them out. We may never see them. The maps do not have to be in the game. We could download them and print them. This is a level of game that may be hard to appreciate by the causual rpger. My kids are advid rpgers and never play wizardry because of the complexities. I've got two thumbs up for this game and am more worried about the patches crashing the game or making my character useless than anything else.
If you don't use the light spell you will not see the door.

I agree. This is perhaps the greatest RPG ever made. However, We have stopped playing until the lag is fixed. I only play multi-player, so the three groups I play with have decided to wait until we can play without lag. If the lag is fixed, this games goes down as the best ever.
Here is to polishing this diamond!

I also agree, I had alot of fun playing this game, even in its unfinished state. At least out of the box you could finish it. I remember when Daggerfall was put out it had an show stopping bug(or two) in it. One bug was in one of the quests you got info where to go to the next dungeon, but the dungeon was never enabled on the map, so you didn't know where to go, so you couldn't finish the game.
HP, keep up the work, and here's to a good game!!!

I also love the game and see it as a potential winner...
But my problem is in the lies the tell to sell the game... and as I said before you should never ever have to patch a game thru the internet to just get the product you paid for that they advertised...
So although it is great don't let the suits continue this practice... that's all...
I stopped playing it cause I like it but I don't want to ruin my enjoyment of it... because I do feel like some one lied. And that is the principle of most of the flamers here... we are all mad about the lies... just be truthful... I would have still bought the game... and that is my only feeling... I don't feel to god awfully bad about the game just the lie they advertised so greatly.
And I feel for those who have no internet connection and these are the people who have no voice cause they can't even come here to register their complaints...
And since I do have friends that don't have internet. I am the one that ends up downloading patches to cd for these people. And I ask is this something that should really have to be. And the astounding answer is NO...
on a 1-10 scale I would rate it at 8 but because of the way it was advertised I would drop the score to 6.5.. as I would rather play then be at my buddies house applying patches his game.
