View Full Version : What do you think they should do to DL in the future?

Hello, maybe the company would be interested in what you think they should do/add on to DL in the future.

Choice 1 is leave it as it is after they patch it all

Choice 2 is make expansions that you can buy/download that will add new items, areas, ect.

Choice 3 is make the patches have new areas and items in them so it'll keep you busy

Choice 4 is make Dungeon Lord have an editor, and one or multiple massive server that anyone can connect at any time. "Kinda like a server a mmorpg would have." And your character on that server is accessed by your CD key so nobody else can play him. You can also only use that certain character on that server, so no hex editing on that character can be done, nor can any items that people cheat for in the editor will be used.
Maybe make the all the massive server character files linked so you may play your character on other massive servers. (In example, a level 5 fighter on server Reguile can be played on the server called Reguile2) ( Hopefully they'll name a server after me if this idea is passed :) )

Choice 4 will work if there were more side quests, and multiple people can do them. Parties will also be nice, and loot sharing and no auto-discard. Would be nice if the map was bigger. Chests should also respawn in about 30 mins, and other things. Choice 4 will probably be a good idea to keep dungeon lords alive.

Oh yes, please, only serious votes. And please don't put senseless messages in this thread.

No, he wants it to be a Diablo in 3D cause that's what it is basically. Hack and Slay with a simple story around it.

I would like too see the game fully completed and bugg free and then DL2 on a new engine

I think this is a good thread, so at least the developer's can see what the players expect or hope for to make DL a better or even an acceptable game.

Although I'm not sure how much effect it would have, option 4 would probably cost a lot to maintain and given the treatment DC gave the game, its unlikely that it's going to happen.

patches - although how many we get is uncertain. if it doesn't sell well (and it probably won't) they may decide just to cut their losses and let it go.

option 4 is, no offence, pie in the sky - no chance that will happen.

i would just be happy if all the features worked and there weren't many bugs - doesn't seem like too much to ask.

Let's just think WAY into the future when they possibly fix all these bugs first.

I put down after they completely patched it on the poll.. anyways, choice 4 will probably keep dungeon lords alive. also will increase profit for the company, dramatically i bet. maybe it will be possible for them to start with 3 and build their way up to 4.
I find it more fun to be playing on a massive server than with a few people you don't know, or maybe a few friends. Also kinda sick of people lagging out of my server and i have to restart from last save. With one massive server, that anyone can join at any time, we wont have to worry about that, or worry about hacked chars, or items. I hope they take this into consideration. But hopefully, they'll have good beta testers

I voted for #3. If they don't patch it at the very least then I won't be buying any expansion or DL 2. They need to fix what we paid for.

As for #4. I don't care if I never play anouther MP game again. By the way, why does #4 have the editor? They should release that anyhow.

you should have included:

#5- release editor tools, we will fix this game better than you ever will/could.

because there will be a server that you don't got to worry about people using the editor for cheated items or levels. So it practicly divides Multiplayer gameplay in 2. The Massive server(s) and the normal servers that has people who have cheated gear, and other junk. So editor and massive server kinda goes together.. in a way

I think this game is hosed beyond salvation, but if anything further is to come of it...I hope they will release an editor or code so someone who knows what they are doing can do something with it.

I can't believe 3 people voted to leave the game as-is. This is the kind of quality you want to spend your money on. No wonder companies are releasing half a product.

how is this... put the box, the manuals, the interviews, and all the reviews... put them on display at the Library of Congress ... with the title "How to Screw Hard Working People Out of Their Money" or maybe "What not to do when selling a product. (?)

I wonder if colleges are actually teaching this kind of behavior... if so I'm glad I never went... seems all the beer drinking fools kept paying me to do their term papers anyhow... $4k alone last year... keep on smoking pot and drinking while in college... at least it helps compensate me when you all graduate and get jobs that end up screwing me...

I voted for choice 3. I'd just like to clarify that the extra content and junk should be;

- The 12 Moongates
- The Frozen/Arctic terrain
- The Caves
- The branching conversation trees
- The Automap
- The Character customization options
- The missing quests
- The missing spells
- The missing weapons and armor
- The missing furniture and NPC's
- All the other things that were mentioned as being in this game from one "official" source or another since last fall but seemingly never made it into the final game.

It looks like Arindale Inn could use some sort of interior decorating...and maybe some people would be nice. This is just pathetic and sets the tone for what is lacking in this game.

Yeah, that does look pretty empty. I haven't really got that far yet. I've pretty much shelved the game until another patch or so is released. Maybe they will put more NPC content into the game.

a map that shows you where you are in the 'world'. i find myself lost in the forbidden lands, having to towards a mountain - and follow it forever just to get to where i can tell where i am.

If you get lost, just ask the nearest NPC for directions.

Oh, that's right, they are lost too. So lost that they don't exist for the most part.

HP and Dreamsnatcher deserve the good ragging on these messageboards and elsewhere. If they release half-finished games like this, they should be able to take having their names dragged in the dirt. It's better than a lawsuit.

The solution is to fix the game and not ever let something like this happen again.

Agreed. I'm convinced that something went very, very wrong with Arindale. It's like they started building it and discovered that they were building over a haunted Orc graveyard or something and decided to move on to somewhere else.

Not only does Arindale not have paved roads, but it doesn't even have foot paths past the Inn.

Psst, Psst; I think Lord Davenmore has the Elves locked up in that Castle Dungeon we can't get into.

Also, have you noticed that many of the huge buildings here and in Fargrove only have one or two rooms. What gives with that?

On a side note; Am I the only one who has wondered why we can't get up into the treehouses and bridges of the Drey Elves? Or why we never see any Elves up there?

Oh well, just some things to ponder I guess.

what i notice most is that none of the rooms of any building has any furniture - they forgot to complete the inside of the rooms.

We could call HGTV and ask for an interior decorator to give the programmers some pointers.
