My character is a Samurai/Paladin and as such I have access to heavy armour. However the heavy armour currently available has just defense, whereas my current medium armour has a fair bit less defense but has bonuses to strike. Which would you suggest to be the better equipment to wear?

IMO, the heavy armor. Those strike bonuses will be nullified quickly as you progress. You'll have a high enough strike, so defense is always good.

better to have armor with parry bonus as strike is easy to raise. parry is much more expansive.

Don't know who told you that, but Parry appears to work fine for me after the patch. If I stand in front of an enemy and don't block or attack, they will miss often. And that's what parry is supposed to do. Increase the chance of deflecting/avoiding the attack.

i read it somewhere on the gamebanshee forums..

parry wasn't on any of the fixes in the 1.1 patch..

the fact that monsters are missing you is probably simply because of the fact that you are wearing high armor..

i've got zero points in parry, am not wearing any +parry items.. and i'm level 20 already.. and monsters still miss me (no damage.. but i do hear the sound of them hitting metal though).. i can't possibly be parrying right?

there're no actual parrying animations (besides you manually blocking with your shield) nor are there any dodging animations (besides you manually using acrobatics) while the parry skill description says that you should be doing those things automatically.. hmm..

I feel that just like the 'Honor' attribute.. parry was one of the things that was intended for the game.. but never included due to the game's rushed release..

Furthermore.. because of this.. you REALLY do not need to add to the parry skill nor the honor attribute at all to advance your classes since the game also DOESNT check your attribute/skill points during advancement..
