View Full Version : funniest bugs or exploits
this is not a ***** thread for your dirty laundrey lists, or legal threats.
all bugs/exploits posted here must have made you laugh --- at least a little.
possibly after you cooled off........
I'll start it off w/this bug:
upon exiting a building in arindale, my lan buddy appeared in some corner of the world map, while I just appeared outside the building.
also, a couple times one of us would appear stuck on the building face, hovering in the air, upon exiting an arindale building.
and I'll repost this exploit:
I was swimming around in lost lake and came to this big clifface of an island.
you can kind of run along the bottom of the wall, but as I did so, these moonbeasts started dropping down on me from the island above.
I got knocked back into the water, but found I could just swim around and shoot them w/arrows in perfect safety.
the only problem being that each arrow would push them back up the cliff wall a little until they were back at the top and I'd have to climb out of the water long enough to get them to jump on me again.

When disarming a high level chest, just have Time Crystal at hand. What happens:
- Time Crystal is lvl 3 Celestial magic, but you can use it without any points in Cel. magic invested
- Time slows (obviously) and with just one or two lvls in disarming trap perk and set of lockpicks you can disarm even 9lvl chest without any sweat ;)
"Stuck 'em up" bug as I like to refer to it:
- because of the a poorly made cliping, you can easily stuck you toughest enemies behind walls, etc...when I fought on that water areas of Elven trials I somehow managed to push that final Elven ghost Master Fighter into water, put otu my 3yr old kin infront of the game, and said to him " son, just click this little button while daddy goes to buy some groceries"...et voila :) (seriously, don't abuse your children in this fashion, this was just a test)
- Frozen touch magic
the same and the same procedure of fighting of bad bosses. Get weapon imbued with that magic, even the dagger and click your way onto the victory. Gets a bit boring after a while though
If you have trouble passing through the south gate in Skuldoon, just back flip twice and you're over!

The one that had me shaking my head ...
- I don't know why, but I hate 'annoying' enemies more than 'difficult' ones - so the 'mine crabs' in Elite Force or Jedi Knight II, or the Bloodflies in Gothic II ... or the bats and bees and snakes in Dungeon Lords.
So I was running away from some bats in one of the dungeons, and went intro the water, and they followed ... so I cast a Blast Nova under water, while swimming, and took care of them ... the whole thing was completely silly to look at (beside making no sense).

there is a chained troll in one corner of fargrove... go up to it and take a swing ... he breaks his chains... his keeper scrambles off screaming a madman let loose the troll (which is like the only voice over that made me snicker)... run around behind the fortune tellers tent ... and pull out your bow even with no skill level... just keep shooting and soon you will be rewarded with an easy 65,000 xp ( well its relative to your level... cause another character killed it for 56,000xp )
but its an early boost to your character but then what does it matter, the monsters just keep getting badder as you do... and I thought the point of getting stronger is so that you can whack those pesky bats and goblins away like flies... Why would I spend all my time lifting weights when the 110lb 6th grader next door could still kick my @ss?

Another one with the troll in Fargove (I posted this elsewhere before). I entered that courtyard along side a town guard. As soon as we entered the area, the guard screamed "Look out, it's loose!" and proceeded to run up to the still chained troll and start whacking away at it. I watched for a little bit, talked to the trolls keeper, went and had my fortune read and all the while this guard is pummeling that poor defensless troll. I finally went and hit the troll and it broke free. The guard had alreay taken off o good number of points, so it wasn't to difficult to kill it after that.

I was in the tombs of Fathien castle when some bats started to pursue me. I jumped into one of the water tunnels figuring I had avoided them, but loe and behold, bats can swim under water! :)
There were also slimes in the water tunnels, but they can't swim like bats do, and they just float on top of the water...
makes sense... not!

Mine has to be the kill the elf elders in the Elf Trials. (The banshee and wizard are actually somewhat tough fights.) Yes, I'm just going to sit there and whack at you with my sword for 20 minutes while you sit there taking it.

The boulder and tree bug is my favorite. If a boulder is next to a tree and you jump from it it will send you shooting up into the sky like you're on a trampoline and send you crashing to the ground for instant death. This sometimes happens when you walk on a boulder in the game next to a tree.
Fun stuff

Fun stuff So that's how I did that the other day. LOL. I came down through the treetops and went splat in the grass.
Theres an exploit with the spell ingredients. If a NPC doesn't have an ingredient and you want to buy some bone dust (or whatever) and you just happen to have at least 1 of the ingredient you want, then all you have to do is sell 1 to the NPC and now you can buy as many as you want back. :p

I had a couple of odd spawns. In one case I had fish (pyranna? sp?) spawn on dry ground. They couldn't move but would attack if you got close. Taking them out with a bow was like shooting fish in a barrel.
And I had some undead spawn stuck in the floorboards of a dwelling. Just the heads sticking through the floor. It was nice to something furnishing at least one space. Again they couldn't move so it was bow target practice.

I got stuck behind and halfway in a sarcoffogus lid when it opened. Monsters

I've had the boulder/tree thing happen too. I've fallen at other times from pretty far up and taken minimal damage so I wonder how high that bug is causing you to fly?
****Possibly a few spoilers below****
But if you are reading about exploits then you probably don't care about spoilers.
One of the funniest (and most useful) bugs is with bats and the Fargrove city guard NPCs. I was leveling up in the monastery area with spawn/difficulty set to high. When I saw a swarm of bats coming I would just run behind the patrolling guard. The bats got stuck in a long column over his head and you can pick them off with a bow as he tries to whack at them. (You can actually use the guards to take on any group of foes and survive.)
Once you get your agility up you can really chop fast (light weapons especially). So to eliminate a horde of wolves or any aggressive non-range attack mobs you just walk backward while chopping. It's like they are running into a Cuisinart blade. I like to back up along a trail so you don't get wedged into a boulder or tree. Just angle the attack right and left slightly as you back up and you leave a trail of wolf manes (or whatever) in front of you.
The first fire drake I fought was outside Arindale by the bridge going to Fargrove. It got wedged so that it's fire attack was deflected by the bridge railing while I plinked it to death with a bow while standing right in front of it. Much more civilized than getting the drake stuck in a tree.
Fighting fire drakes with Celestial lightning is just too silly. You can stand behind a tree and blast the drake through the tree but its fire can't hit you. Takes a few spells (20-30) but it's stupid easy. Occasionally you will have pushed the drake back beyond the range of the spell so you have to make sure you are always doing damage, and if not wait for it to come closer and start the shake and bake again.
My latest way to fight drakes (to avoid boredom) is to use rune Sanctuary and just chop 'em up. The fire attack pushes you back but doesn't do much damage.
I'm using the Scepter of Light (?) electrically charged magic weapon and every so often after a lot of use it will get "stuck" with a blue flame appearing at the tip continuously. It looks and sounds like you're carrying an oxyacetylene torch. Very silly. If you save, exit, and start again it's gone.
****Spoiler Here****
I was just in the Tomb of Souls at the Watcher area where you can't use your health potions. I didn't die (barely) but ended up having to play it again to check out the two Tomb prize options. But this time I spawned several Blessed Spirits and a rune Sanctuary spell before starting the fight. La la la, no damage at all. They definitely didn't cover all the health preserving angles, although the first time it had me running around like a maniac.

heh I just ran across a good one.
Getting chased by a dragon, (i shouldnt be anywhere near dragons at level 6 but i'm exploring for the heck of it) i run into the lost lake, and dive for the bottom.
Next thing i know the dragon is swimming after me, underwater, while breating fireballs at me.
After i got done swearing i couldnt stop laughing.

The dragon swimming I can picture (Dragonheart anyone?), but breathing fire underwater is totally outrageous (yet typical for this game).

here's cool exploit.. in the fargrove theatre, the first time I played through, I killed all the goblins on the floor, avoiding the ogre, then jumped up onto the stage right infront of the ballista - and went inside it.. it aimed right through me, and the ballista went and hit the ogre in the nuts, and the ogre got stuck against that center stone pole in the downstairs lobby door area..
well, I sat there for about 5 minutes watching that poor ogre get pounded time after time in the nuts untill he keeled over, and then killed the ballista.. :)
all the while laughing my *** off.. but I don't remember if it gave me exp for it... the comedic circumstance more than made up for it.

what about get an high knockback hit (from a borloth for example) when you are trapped in gripping vines?
your char is supposed to be on the floor after one of those hits, and then the char stand up and you can move again. well, you donīt see when your char bring down to the floor while trapped in vines but kinda the game says that you are stunned and after some seconds you can move again... even when you are still gripped.
running around with that vines armor is kinda funny

Well, my personal favorite is in dealing with Fire Drakes. At the same time, they are a time sink, but lot's of exp. points when killed. I've met quite a few of these peeps, and you need to commit some patience (and, of course, time) when fighting them.
You just need to get the Fire Drake "stuck" between a tree or some other obstacle. Then just keep firing your bow until it's killed.

ahahahahaha....there's just something about getting hit in the nuts that's hilarious.
as long as they're not yours.
