View Full Version : How Effective is Ninjitsu?

I know most things in this game are really bugged, and I don't know wether or not Ninjitsu is, or how effective it really is if you invest a lot into it. I was thinking of like a Kenjasai/Ninja Lord charecter, that would allow you to invest heavily in Ninjitsu at low cost. However before I start on this endevour I would like to hear from you who have exp. with Ninjitsu to tell me if its worth it, or is a Crusader/Battle Mage (current charecter) just that much more powerful?

Ninjutsu does a good deal of damage especially once you start putting points in it. The only problem with it is that there are certain mobs that are far better fought with a 6' range weapon as it will usually prevent them hitting you, as well as a number of really nifty magical weapons (dwarven cold axe comes to mind).
So, it's playable, just harder.

Ninjuitsu is the one thing I DO like about this game. It's actually makes the combat fun once you get the hang of it.
...unfortunately, of course they didn't stop to think that if you can't equip "bare hands" that you'd lose the ability to switch to a ranged weapon....

the lack of being able to swich to a ranged weapon most likly comes from the skill of dual weild and how that second weapon takes the place of the ranged weapon.

Wich again is rather silly. If you can hold 50 swords in your inventory, then you aught to be able to put two down, pick up a bow, and star firing away, but none the less, maybe in patch 1.8 wich will come out some time next year if were lucky, but by then most us here now won't be interested. Oblivion will be out, and none of us will look back at how void the RPG field must be for this many people to actually be this interested in the second most incomplete game ever to be released to the public. Though we might want to keep the bad hype down a notch, if the game doesn't sell a few hundred thousand copies, the odd's will be pretty high that they won't ever finish it, cause the game must stay in the black, even if you sell one hundred thousand people the unfinished product, and advertise it as something it is not.. Thanks Anyways for the comments, I think I will give a ninja a try out next game around, at least if 1.2 makes the game more enjoyable.

No, the inability is because in order to use Ninjitsu, you need to unequip both of your weapon slots. One of the choices when swaping through Melee and Ranged weapons should be No Weapons in hand, so Ninjitsu could be used without having to remove Melee and Ranged weapons from their slots. And a seperate slot is needed for a Dual Wield weapon, so that a Ranged weapon can also be selected without having to go into inventory and equip one. And maybe make Dual Wield another choice when swaping through the different configurations. Melee(single) being one, Melee(Dual Wield) being another, Ranged, and finally Ninjitsu(or no equipped weapon if no Ninjitsu skill). Would make things MUCH easier.

Just another half-baked feature in a severely undercooked game. ;)

Hi, i invested alot of xp in my ninjutsu, i got till lvl 14 in it. while being a lord ninja that has some more benefits.
i was also a knight with 10 in heavy swords. i got to say allthou i made around 15-25 dmg in the first 4 hits and around 30-45 dmg in the last two hits. using the death sword i made much more dmg, was very dissapointed i put ALOT of xp into ninjutsu. as i see it, u better be a lord ranger and a death lord to kick *** in the game.
Ninjutsu is a bit quicker than heavy swords, but what happens is that u miss most of the 3rd, 4th hits couse they push the mob away. also with a heavy sword u can jump and hit around 3-4 hits while in the air, and alot of dmg, while in ninjutsu it's only one kick.

it would be nice if ninjitsu worked at all for me. for some reason even if un equip everything (including my boots - thats desperate I am) I keep imitating sword moves with bare hands.

that's strange that someone could only get one jump kick. my ninja lord's speed is 262 and i can get in at least 1/2 dozen kicks while in the air. of course, my agility is like 90 or something and my ninjitsu skill is at 12.
in a single jump (composed of several kicks) i can usually get a minotaur reduced to 1/4th his hitpoints.
all i can say is that i kick butt with my ninja lord/battlemage. i think he's the best of my characters.

I've noticed this issue with not only Ninjitsu but also Polearms and Heavy Weapons. I've noticed the animation for Pole Arms and Heavy Weapons and Ninjitsu for some reason either from the start is the same as light and medium weapons or at some point it changes. I've had Pole Arms working fine (the animation) and then after some point the animation changed to the same as Light Wepaons. Ever since Patch 1.1 I've noticed this issue. I've never had Ninjitsu actually work properly for any character since the 1.1 patch. And by the looks of it, the effectiveness of it seems like it isn't even working at all...not just the animation.

It's strange. Both worked fine for me after the patch, but ninjitsu wouldn't work for my friend. Polearms/Heavy Weapons worked fine for both though.

We were both either Monks or Shugenja when we tried testing it ninjitsu. We ended up starting a new LAN game and trying different characters though, so I'm not sure. Ninjitsu just isn't worth it imo, compared to dual-wield. If it was made easier to get into Ninjitsu and still choose your melee or ranged weapon without going into inverntory to do it, I might use it more.

You can fix the Ninjutsu/Weapon-Bug by selling all weapons, keeping a bow, equipping it and then selling it while it is still equipped. After that, your Ninjutsu should work perfectly.
There are some weapons that dont corrupt Ninjutsu, like the Silver Wakizashi ,the Katana+1 and the Shuriken. Just experiment and have fun!

it's working! I dropped all weapons and ninjutsu strated to work. problem is that sometimes even picking them up is enough for it to bug out again.
a lot of animations are bugged - don't fit the weapon.

Its a bug or design flaw. Just like everything else in the game
