After finishing Dungeon Lords i would like to know if anyone can recommend me a good rpg game like Sacred, similar to the Diablo legacy...

Perhaps you should let us know what you've played and what you like:

- Do you like 'real' RPG's like Baldur's Gate, or are you more interested in action-RPG hak-n-slash like Diablo?

Have you played:
- Divine Divinity
- Nox
- Darkstone
- What about 'Fallout' series, and the new Restricted Area?

i like more hack n slash like diablo but i also want the game to have a lot of side quests. Also i always choose the path of archery(elf) so it would be good to know if the game has developed that feature because playing Dungeon Lords with a bow is like commiting suicide :D .

I have played divinity and Baldure's Gate 2, Gothic 2, Diablo series, Sacred. What about the rest of the games you mentioned???

Here is a little list of RPG's of recent years I posted elsewhere ...

2005:
- KotOR2: excellent beginning (better than #1, IMO), good middle, mediocre end.
- Heretic Kingdoms: nice 30-ish hour action RPG with cool, unique features that differentiate it ... plus a nice price.
- Fate: some think of WildTangent as 'spyware', but I love the game
- Dungeon Lords ... you'll have to wait until my review is published at GamerDad ;)
- Mount & Blade: looks like fun, I just started.

2004:
- VtM: Bloodlines: a real fave of mine. Dark and gritty, with loads of cool stuff to do and replayability. Get past the issues, and you've got a great game.
- Sacred: big game, more 'fedex' quests than you can count. Gets boring, IMO.
- Beyond Divinity: don't know why, I just never got into it and don't like it.
- I of the Dragon: I only played the demo, which I thought was crap.

2003:
- KotOR: one of the best RPG's ever.
- NWN: Hordes of the Underdark - the best story of the bunch. Cool Epic builds
- NWN: Shadows of Undrentide - weakest of the bunch, IMO, but still a fun game.
- Lionheart: looking for 20 fun hours? Play through Barcelona and until you get bored and then uninstall - it never gets better. Good beginning but never finished.
- Temple of Elemental Evil: beautiful, no-nonsense dungeon crawler that was buggy and unpatched and spelled Troika's doom. With the 'Circle of Eight' patch it is very enjoyable.

2002:
- Neverwinter Nights: I bought this for Mac in Aug 2003 to 'prep' for KotOR, and have been a RPG nut ever since.
- Arx Fatalis: good game, but too few 'crumbs' to find your way through the plot at times ... even experienced RPG'ers end up with a walkthrough on this one.
- Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind: a divisive game some have termed 'single player MMO', but unquestionably huge, open, and buggy.
- Dungeon Siege: ... oh, pardon me, did I doze off .... zzz ...
- Icewind Dale II: a new Infinity engine game ... in summer 2002? More dungeons ... and harder.
- Gothic II: one of my all time faves.
- Divine Divinity: great, 100+ hour action-based game ... truly massive, but ultimately little replayability.

2001:
- BG2: Throne of Bhaal: a big enough expansion to warrant its' own listing, and a really good game.
- Wizardry 8: supposed to be good, still sells for a good price on eBay.
- Gothic: great game, bad controls.
- Arcanum: if you choose well, it is a great game, if not an exercise in frustration. I chose well, and love this quirky game!
- Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor: Pure crap! Not only that, but any excuse for it to exist has been superceded by better games like ToEE and Sacred.

2000:
- Baldur's Gate 2: a truly amazing game in both scope and accomplishment.
- Icewind Dale: nice dungeon crawl, not much else.
- Nox: fun little action-RPG
- Vtm: Redemption: good game, but hard to mix 3d action and 4 player party.
- Wizards & Warriors: I've not gotten far, hung up by the 'roll for high scores' in character creation.

1999:
- Planescape Torment: a vastly underappreciated game in terms of sales and current knowledge. Critically thought of as one of the all-time greats, and for good reason.

1998:
- Baldur's Gate: changed the RPG world with a great immersive world.
- Fallout 2: More of a good thing oftn *is* a good thing ...
- Final Fantasy VII: direct PS port. No clue on this one.

1997:
- Fallout: take RPG out of the fantasy world, with great results!

1996:
- Diablo: I was always a shooter fan, but also loved fantasy stuff and had done my D&D time in highschool in the early 80's, so my wife buys me this for Christmas. I play for a while, then swear off RPG as 'teh suxorz' until NWN in 2003.

Then there are the nifty Spiderweb games, nice shareware stuff.

Feel free to add stuff - I chose to only include games with significant 'single player' games.

There is a new game out, it is called Restricted area - Diablo like sci-fi rpg. No archers I think.. may be wrong on that, one of the 4 pre-made chars looks like a ninja of somekind, maybe he could weild some bows..

With Diablo like I also mean some of the graphics features :P the mutants go down in a 1-2 frame death animation .. but the reviews are positive so far (have only played the demo myself..). There is also somekindova story which unites the 4 characters as they meet in various places and it is said to be quite amusing.

There are the obligatory bionic and other upgrades.. might be interesting to try, that is if you are no a sworn enemy of sci-fi rpgs (Talk about KotOR mmm yummie)

I'm playing Restricted Area now, and it has some small bugs and things I've found, and there is also a huge 'death penalty' in terms of losing half the prestige and experience for a mission and the gold reward. You also get one save per character with no ability to 'retry' a mission if you happen to die by some glitch of getting stuck in a wall (arrgh!).

It is OK, but I find myself spending as much time quitting to windows to back up save files as actually playing ...

I enjoy real RPGs more, but I also enjoy Diablo-style games, as long as it's not too much hack n' slash with little plot. I'd rather play a game with a decent storyline than an all-action game.

I loved VtM: Bloodlines and the original VtM PC game. But then, I've played the tabletop version as well and liked it.

I totally loved the Baldur's Gate/Icewind Dale/Neverwinter Nights series and Arcanum. Elder Scrolls III was also great.

My favorite RPG series of all time is Might & Magic, at least until the newer versions where the quality went downhill.

I played Wizardry 8. It was pretty good.

I didn't like Darkstone very much. Too much hack n' slash and too cliche'd of a plot. Sacred was much better for a hack n' slash game.

Also, I really enjoyed Beyond Divinity. Someone made a couple of flash movies for it on a fan site. They rocked!

I agree that Pool of Radiance totally sucked, but at least it worked.

Was I the only one who remotely liked Temple of Elemental Evil? Once you patched it, it wasn't that bad.
