View Full Version : G4TechTV Review
Just saw G4TechTV's review on "Xplay"... here's new one, they gave it 2 out of 5 rating because the settings and characters were not historicly accurate?!

Yeah, those disembodied spirits didn't look authentic to me, either. ;)

Heh, I was gonna comment on the X-Play review and couldn't quite come up with the right words.
I expected them to give it a 2, but certainly not due to historical inaccuracy. Looking at my game box it says a lot of things that were in the game (or supposed to be) and I don't see the words "historically accurate" anywhere.
Guess they needed something to really pick on.

Explain to me how a FANTASY game is supposed to be historically accurate? What, it has all the Oriental spears and armour, so it has to have some history behind it, or something? Honestly, that review is very funny.
Hmm...

X-Play is extremely entertaining but I wouldn't count on it for a review. Whenever they review a game such as Mario or Pokemon they speak all sorts of unintelligible talk and while they show the gameplay they don't explain how it works and I'm left completely confused about even how the basics of gameplay work.
As for the DL review they just wanted to make it entertaining and unfortunately they somewhat failed when they were talking about historically accurate because it had nothing to do with anything and it wasn't funny. Showing the glitchy pause when monsters spawn and the large number of rats as well as pointing out that the automap button doesn't work was relevant but the rest of the review was basically meaningless.
Actually, just watching all of the in-game action on the review would make me believe what I believe after having played it that's it's a very enjoyable game. The gameplay footage was well done.

A long time ago, someone emailed me and asked my opinion and suggestions about a certain game I was playing. They were writing a review and wanted all the help they could get.
My response was, "For crying out loud, how can you possibly write a review unless you actually play the game yourself?"

Exactly. They should have let me write the review.
The only thing not historically accurate is how much time was exactly wasted when they were programming this game over the last 5 years.

OK, that's too funny.

Ok...while I may not be the biggest fan of DL...to criticize it's historical inaccuracy is pure Looney Tunes.
Besides...if they don't get their backsides in gear and deliver the promised patches, DL is gonna BE history...

I didn't see the original review, but I think they've re-written it.

yes, my little sister watches that all the time, and I sometimes watch it with her, thats how I found out about Dungeon Lords, the game footage caught my eye.

This was not the written review on the website... it was the video review on the TV show XPlay, which gave it a 2 of 5, not 3 of 5.
Also...
I believe the review Never went past the village of Arindale and Ulm, which is NO WAY to review an RPG... this is not Mario... it takes MANY HOURS to fully understand the good & bad of the game play and they did not do the work.
