View Full Version : I've finished DL and do you know what is the worst thing about the game?
... your comments guys about how bad game is, how buggy it is and how unfinished it is. Without you guys, I could think that the game is OK. But you didn't give me the chance to enjoy the game poisoning me every time I open this forum.
When Oblivion and Gothic III are out I'll try not to make similar mistake again.
Oh well, time heals wounds anyway.

So why not wait until patch 1.2 and replay the game knowing what you know now? I agree that it was a good game but you have to ignore some of the posts that you see in here.
I was really only on the forums to get hints when needed and give hints when I could help so I wasn't really paying attention to everyone saying "It's great! No it's not! Yes it is!! No it's not!!" etc.
I think when the next patch comes out I will replay it again since I'm pretty sure it will take me half the time it took the first time around.

So don't read any threads that sound like they're criticizing or complaining about the game. In most cases you can tell from the title of the thread.

You know there's something wrong with you when you get offended at something somebody said in an internet forum.

I don't see anything referring to that the original poster was offended. I believe this was hopefully a lesson learned that once you decide to give a game a chance then go for it without reading the ridiculous forum posts of negativity. Because there will never be a lesson learned for the haters who rant on a game and then the PC gaming industry (or at least the crpg genre) goes to literally zero because of poor sales due to bad reviews due in part to negative posts on message boards.
It is an *extremely* rare computer game which does not have a huge amount of negativity posted on its forums after release. I was reading all of the negativity on here while playing and enjoying DL and luckily for me I was able to find my main points of disagreement with the negativity posters and so I was able to enjoy the game a lot. Hopefully I'll have the same luck with other good-but-not-perfect crpg's which come out in the future.

Makes it seem like he was implying that what he read in these forums offended him and didn't let him enjoy the game.

I can see why he might feel that way.
Have you ever gotten a game and logged on to the games forum and found tons of people super excited about the game and it just makes you more stoked on the game?
The same thing can happen in reverse, thats why I stopped posting or coming here while I played the game.

I shouldn't worry about what other folks say about the game. Everyone has various tastes and opinions. However I think it's good when folk report a bug. That way, you can make efforts to avoid them in your game.
Just remember folk who post negative comments about the game and even about other forum users have nothing better to do usually. Sometimes the bugs encountered are so frustrating that it spoils or sometimes ruin a players experience and forums are their only outlet to vent their frustration.
Take what the negative posts say with a pinch of salt. If you feel highly towards the game then post. Not many folk do because they feel no need when they already enjoyed the game but a few good posts wont hurt ;)

I can understand the confusion but here is how I read his opinion:
* Offended = you have no right to say that, you should be censored
* His opinion = he wishes you hadn't said that and wishes he hadn't read it but doesn't say anything about whether or not one has the right to say that
For example, if someone makes a blatantly racist statement on this forum I would be offended and believe that person's post should be removed. However, if someone says that they think DL is a bad game then while I disagree with them and maybe wish they hadn't said that I'm not offended.
This is neither here nor there but I figured I'd explain why I believed the original poster wasn't offended. Also, I may be completely wrong about the word offended, I'm not an English specialist.

Ummmm.... just because somebody may offend me with something they say does not at all mean I think they don't have a right to say it. It just means I find it highly distasteful and would probably rather not hear it.
I am not referring to anything in this thread (or elsewhere) specifically, just speaking in general.

Offended Definition: -adj- hurt or upset; "she looked offended"; "face had a pained and puzzled expression"
Luigibuddy, had it correct.
In your example, you are talking more in lines of opinionated censorship.

I thought the game was good also, but, the more I learned about the missing content, the more I decided that I was lied to and cheated.

I really wonder if the Forum wouldn't benefit from having a Rants area, and the Admins moving all the flaming threads there.

I think the worst thing about the game was the final fight, depressingly easy compared to the beasts I had fought getting to him.

Hyper theoreticly my answer was without question?.So i can choose to humor you or defend my statement!
The context of my chosen words are infanate to the sence they speak about all yet none.To keep it short"Originally Posted by (NFLed) It is an *extremely* rare computer game which does not have a huge amount of negativity"one could argue about comments made towards the game and reviews made were unjust, but they just reinforce my statement.Im referring to the game its self not the person playing it.Fun and good go hand in hand but are very differnt.
Going back to your question which i will answer seeing as i am of heart and polite by nature,a real game is a game which is better than the one in question"Dungeon Lords" which would be alot!.Enough said talk is cheap if waisted...

I really don't think you'll have to worry about that. I was on the Morrowind and Gothic 2 boards when those games were released and for several weeks thereafter and although there may have been a few negative posts, it was nothing like what's going on with this game.
The reason is simple and apparent. Those were finished, polished games that delivered everything they were described as having in interviews, previews, in the manual and on the box. They were also relatively bug free.
Sadly, DL falls short in all of those areas, hence the huge amount of negativity arising from the fact that people feel they have been sold a product far inferior to what was advertised or could reasonably have been expected.

Just don't come to the forum then. This place is a lost cause at least for the time being.

I think thats because of the marketing departments building the game up to much more than it really is, Just like the picture of a big mac at mcdonalds, and the reality when you unwrap it.
