The german version of Dungeon Lords is out an in the readme you can read the following:
Gegenstände reparieren / identifizieren
Die Funktionen "Identifizieren" wurde wieder aus dem Spiel genommen, nachdem festgestellt wurde, das diese keinen wesentlichen Gewinn für das Spiel darstellt.
Die Funktion "Reparieren" wurde -gemessen am Verschleiß von Waffen, Rüstungen etc.- aus Balance-Gründen aus dem Spiel entfernt.

Kartenbeilage: DIE FÄHIGKEITEN
Wie bereits oben erwähnt, sind die Fähigkeiten "Reparieren" und Identifizieren"
nicht mehr im Spiel enthalten bzw. inaktiv.
For the ones who are not able to read "Kraut" in brief:
The skills/features "repair" and "identify" are disabled and will never be fixed.

i was looking forward to haveing useing the identify skill. Owell hope the flamers dont read this. for it will start the new round of flaming remarks.

It was surely be a start.
But I really hope those features will be enable in our release not the german one.

So far, nothing but shields need repairing. That depends how much you actually use blocking. Identify shouldn't be a great loss because all items already display information when the cursor is on them.

Have played DL twice through and only fixing missing / broken spells and items would give some replay value for me. Map I have, the printed one, so manually "fixed"..:) The obvious plot bugs and quirks seen up so far, used to safe often anyway, thou have to admit this game had more than enough quirks and bugs what would be reasonable for release gone gold.( after 20 years of gaming think I have learned my lesson well.. :rolleyes: )
Repair and identify missing (if that is going to be so) ain't big issue for me, others may disagree/have totally their own flawors/flames bout this bit of news.

Great, no repair skill, just what we need, some of the best shields in the game, can't be repaired in shops yet, nor can we repair them ourselves... I only broke 2 shields in my game, one by the naga queen, can't remember wich it was, but I wasn't too happy, specially later when I lost the Griffon Shield.

You have to admit, though, this game was not programmed or completed with the best effort.
There is another word for it but it's more derogatory and I think the messageboard has seen enough of that. I hope they add in and fix what they can.

I am curious about one skill, Identify. I have not found anything my mage can't id yet. Granted, I still have not left Fargrove and all the items I found are quite low level. (I guess) What does an item display when it is not identified? Question makrs or Unidentified? Also, can you use an item if it is unidentified?

There is an icon called "iconequipUNKNOWN.bmp" in your dungeonlords\interface\icons folder. It shows a questionmark.
The identify skill does not and will never work. As a workaround there are no unidentified items in the game. But the presence of this icon shows that it was planned different.

so much potential but not allowed to flower. Now its growth is stunted and it will never be the way it was intended.
