I am Bradley's fan. I love Crusaders and I really liked Wizards and Warriors. Those two games offered excellent plots, feeling, interesting characters and unusal artistic beauty.

I have just left the first town and I am heading for the elven city. So far, the game has been quite boring. The sewers had no story at all, the Crypt was pretty naive, the dialogs have been, so far, dull.

I don't care about bugs, automap or hair colour. I like Bradley's worlds. So, you guys who finished the game, does it get better through the game? Does it have an interesting story, characters and world? Does it have that magical feeling of the previous two works? Bugs aside, can it be compared with Savant and Wizards? Is it worth playing for a little disappointed fan?

I enjoyed the game a lot even all the way to the end. In my view the sewers were fun (although the game did get better later) so if the sewers were completely boring to you then the game may remain boring. I thought that the crypt -- a fairly long dungeon with the headless monsters, etc. -- was very fun (one of the better dungeons in the game) so if you have finished that and didn't enjoy it at all then this game may not be for you.

For reference I enjoyed Wizardry VI and VII a huge amount (and Wiz8 even more) but did not enjoy Wizards and Warriors much (I got through about 1/2 or 2/3 of it).

wow vampire the things you disliked are what i look for in an RPG. Besides you could get the moon bridge gates and speed up movement.

Bugs aside, if you are looking for a true RPG experience then DL is not for you.

If all you're after in an RPG is lots of fighting, a few "quests", and leveling up your character then DL could be of some marginal interest...and more-so if they ever do successfully "patch" the game.

I enjoyed it despite all of the shortcomings. Compared to Restricted Area, which was more 'finished' and 'polished', I found that Dungeon Lords was actually more fun to play ... although the thought of 'clearing' a dungeon is nice ...

I enjoyed it a lot despite it's nakedness.

My best advice (devoid of personal opinion), is to try the Demo first. The released game is a "little" better than the Demo and upcoming patches should make it a little better still. If you don't like the Demo, you're not going to like the game.

Some early threads here and at;

http://support.typhoongames.com/board/

have good advice about how to survive the Demo. You might benefit from looking them up.

My personal opinion is that if you can get it for $20.00 (half price), it's probably worth it. Any more and you've paid too much.

Good Hunting!

No. Whoever was responsible for releasing this wrecked Bradley's reputation. If you buy it you'll see why.

Games I suggest instead:
-Psychonauts
-Beyond Good and Evil
-Mount and Blade
-Sacred
-Fate

Heck the list is long.

Some more awesome and FINISHED Games:

- Gothic 1+2
- Morrorwind
- Vampires2 Bloodlines
- Sacred (with Patches)

Mostly old Games but each looks far better than DL even the 3-4 Years old Gothic1.

Yes, both Gothics are super! I was sort of expecting DL to be similar... Morrowind is not a game any more, it is more like going to work on a regular basis :)

Michael: I like your DL review!

I shall probably wait for the patch and then go for it.

You'll find a huge diversity of opinion, really. The suggestions to try the Demo - or wait for the next Patch - are good advice.

I, on the other hand, am having fun with it, despite its shortcomings. Waiting is probably good advice . . . if it goes on sale, you can get it even cheaper.

Someone suggested Morrowind, which, personally, I hated. I got strength drained by some Undead, and couldn't move. I couldn't rest it off, the nearest temple was no help, and the only solution was to drop every inventory item in order just to be able to search around for restoration potions. I shelved it right then and there.

Am gonna have to take a re-look at Psychonauts, tho o_O. Its getting some good reviews, and I like the weird games =)

DL is nothing like any of the rpgs listed on this thread in any significant way. there is basically no role-playing at all, you just go talk to one person, go kill someone, go back and get a new class.

DL is an action game that pretends to be rpg. an absolutely flat plot, no alignment, no real dialogue options. if you like diablo, you might like this. it is basically diablo 3d and you can do some combos and you can manually block.

don't bother if you like spellcasters, since a full 50 percent of the spells aren't even included. and make sure you check out the errors on the class list of the manual, since the skills get all ****** up for a part of them (typo).

I wouldn't recomend this game to anyone. Not even my worst enemy. It's obviously unfinished, the patch doesn't work, and no amount of patching will ever fix all the problems.

Doing My Bit For Humanity: A True Story

There I was, in Wal-Mart. Looking at the PC games. A mom and Grandmom meander by and Grandmom starts looking at the games.

She picks up Dungeon Lords and asks mom: "Will Jimmy like this one?"

Mom says "Sure," and well...what's a guy like me to do?

"M'am," says I..."Let me tell you about that game..."
