Scribe is a good way to spend EXP?

If you're a mage it's a great way to take the one-shot scrolls and add them to a spellbook to give you more "charges" of a spell! :D

This is predicated on Scribe functioning correctly within the game, of course. ;)

It good, since your spells will be ready in a shorter time, so you have to wait less till you can use them again.

I would say yes.

That is, your Arcane Magic spells, but nothing else. Not like it would seem to matter that much to him(that it doesn't add Celestial Magic regeneration power), he doesn't seem to use Celestial Magic that much, seeing that he is a fighter/mage dual-class.

Channel is used for Celestial Magic and Rune Magic to regenerate faster.

Unless you are a Paladin or any class from the Celastial Order, you cant gain Channel.

Yeah, I knew that, but I didn't want him to think that it may add to other regen capabilities. I've been a cleric each run-through of the game I have played. Pretty fun once you have about 20 healing crystals.

You mean all these scrolls I carry around can be converted into permanent spells in my spellbook? I have like 100+ scrolls! Also, I play a mage with 100 in Arcane and 5 in scribe. How do you add scrolls into your spellbook? 30+ more fireballs sound great to me.

Actually, I think he was joking. I have seen NO way to do that. If I had, then I'd be all over it.
Edit: Although, you must admit, that is what scribe would seem like, right? But from what spellbooks are like, I bet that it's more like *re*-writing the spells once you have cast them, if you get my point.

I thought I had read that about the Scribe skill on one of the other Dungeon Lords sites, but I may be mis-remembering. I'm not playing a Mage, so I do not have the skill available to me to try out.

Dungeon Lords Class and Skill Analysis (http://www.landofsnow.com/dungeonlords/) has some very interesting information, particularly with regard to attribute and skill increases.

I seriously doubt it does. If it were so, then why would there be scrolls for Arcane Magic in my backpack?

Because you haven't/can't scribe them into a spellbook, perhaps? Like I said, I don't have the skill, myself, so I can hardly tell what it does. Gamebanshee's Dungeon Lords site doesn't have any information on it that I have seen, although I have not searched their forums.

Scribe is probably the second or third most important skill for a arcane user; high levels of it produce a noticable speed up of spells regenerating. Combine this with a large number of spells and late in the game arcane users finally come into their own as you will have enough charges to nuke stuff without constant downtime. The same applies for the equivalent celestial magic skill, channel. You can eventually discard standard heal potions once you have enough levels in channel and enough heal spells. (Even early on, going through trial of elders the hard way (killing the bosses) with a number of channel levels and heal spells becomes much easier.

It does NOT let you scribe scrolls. Period.

Scribe will NOT let you turn your scrolls into permanent spells. However, it does greatly speed up your spell regeneration. When I got my Arcane Magic skill up to 10 and my Scribe skill up to 10, 25-30 spellbooks of each favorite spell kept me pretty well supplied.

When my Arcane hit 15 and I had 30+ spellbooks my Mage was a lean, mean, killing machine!

OK, so Scribe is for Mages what Channel is for Celestials. I'll keep that in mind when I play a Mage. ;)

So then, with mages...

...reading is fundamental? :)

Channel is used for Celestial Magic and Rune Magic to regenerate faster.

Unless you are a Paladin or any class from the Celastial Order, you cant gain Channel.

Actually, if you are playing a female character, the enchantress gains both channel and scribe.

My Char is a Mage-Fighter; Enchantress-Sorcerer; War Witch.
I have both Scribe and Channel. The ONLY thing Scribe does is decrease the amount of time it takes for an arcane Spell in your Spellbook to 'Regenerate itself ' It does not Add any more spells than what you have purchased. W/O Scribe it takes about 3 hours camping to regenerate a Spell. With 10 in Scribe it takes about 1 hour camping. Traditionally,Scribe Meant that when you came across a Spell Scroll,or Rune,or Whatever,You coud then use your Scribe skill to permanently inscribe it into your Spellbook. Sorta loosely used in DL.

I really have no idea of what Channel really does because before I had Scribe and Channel I could camp and the Celestial Crystals also regenerated along with the Arcane Spells.

If you pay attention to the mana level of the Celestial Crystals(and Runestones, you will see that more Channel skill will increase your mana regeneration rate on those.
I.E. Healing Crystals. It takes about 3-7 seconds(not sure, didn't clock it) to regen 1 mana on it. With about 10 points, it takes 1-1.5 seconds to regenerate the same thing.
