Best Light Weapon for a Mage

So far, I have a Winter Dagger, Elven Speed Sword, and a Mage's Staff. Anything better out there? I just finished the elf armor quest. I also have a 8 in light weapons and a 8 in magic weapons.

PS: Any reason I should keep increasing my light weapons?

The Dagger or the Speed Sword since they give you good bonuses.
The mages staff is weak, unless it has magic that can stun an enemy for a bit.

Ok, I'm going to say this in hopes that you took the Celestial Guild as well. I don't know what path you took, so I can't really help much, but the best Light Weapon I have seen is the Sceptre of Storms,given to you for completing the "complete this quest and you can then choose a Tier 3 class" quest in the C.O. It shoots a lightning bolt with 3 charges and also does 8-14 melee damage.

You should find the Scrptre of Ice in the Naga Temple. It rocks, and uses a Flamethrower-type ice spray charge three times, which can freeze as well. It does 3-8 or something like that, and it has a Freeze touch, I think.

The main reason to increase Light Weaponry would be to add points to Magic Weaponry. It will increase recharge time and (as far as I know) damage for the magic weapons. Plus, Light Weaponry will determine proficency in meleeing with the Sceptres, not Magic Weponry.

The shadow sceptre that you can get in the shadow ruins is the best sceptre in my opinion. it has high melee damage and shoots 5 balls of dark energy out of it each doing about 15 damage or more.

I used the Sceptre of Storms for most of my game, it seemed the most reliable to hit with magic attacks for me. I found the relic staff to be the best that I handled (but only available for a limited time). The dragon staff was my godsend through the last maze (all those minotaurs) with all the fire magic.

I like the Staff of Burning you can get of some Goblin Mages and, the Staff of Scaris you get when joining the Mages Guild.

As an Elf, the Sword of Flame ain't bad either.

Then there is the Sceptre of Ice and, my favorite (from the Shadow Ruins) the Sceptre of Shadows
